I do I do , why ? Yes I love it I have the 9mm . I had the .40 version also but sold it seeing as it was expensive to shoot and the 9mm will do just as much lol.
man my head hurts. im working on getting Florida and Utah pistol permits.
i know some of you have nys pistol permits, any of you have permits in other states as well?
This I was actually thinking about the other day. If you have a permit say here in NYS, would you not be allowed to have one, not necessarily to carry but say your going to a buddies in a different state to shoot, or a competition, would the NYS permit not apply all together or are their restrictions for out of state permits dependent on the state?
For competitions, you don’t need a permit in most states (including NY if you’re from out of state) but you need to be able to legally own a pistol in your home state - I THINK.
I’m on my phone and don’t have a link handy, but look up in google “pistol permit reciprocity” and you should find a map that shows which states honor another state’s permit.
You have to have nys permit to get a non resident permit in other states. Handgunlaw.us is a good site also.
Florida, Utah, and NYS would give you access in 36 states. Then you can apply and get Maine, Mass, New Hampshire.
Also you can get a Arizona permit which Nevada recognizes.
Most states recognize some state, the one you won’t get at all is Illinois as they denie the right all together.
I believe there are around a dozen states that honor NYS permit.
The whole pistol permit thing and it’s extreme “deniability” these days is something that has been pissing me off, and my wife and I got into a lengthy discussion regarding the issues at hand(she is pro-gun, was just brough up on a business related tangent)
I have this problem with this country and the permits WE dish out to the public. Let’s look at two things: Pistol permits and Drivers permits. Both are state organized and state issued based on the states pre-determined regulations, however only one of them is based off a right. 99.999% of Americans these days think that their driving permit is a right when in fact it’s a privelege. Gun ownership is a right.
Obtaining a pistol permit in NYS: The citizen must complete an authorized firearm safety course, have fingerprints placed on file with FBI, have a full background check completed, undergo interviews with law enforcement and legal titles, and after a drawn out staging then has the OPPORTUNITY to be granted their permit by their acting county judge(who may or may not be biased towards firearms).
Obtaining a drivers permit in NYS: The citizen walks into DMV and takes a five question test of substandard level, is giving a piece of paper allowing surpervised operation of a motor vehicle, must sit through a lax 5 hour safety course, and then can apply for a road test given by a (likely 85% of the time) substandard driver at best.
Pistol permit…you screw up and accidentaly do something “not right/authorized” you lose your right to own the handgun/have a permit and don’t get it back.
Drivers permit…You screw up and have an accident and hurt someone, you lose your driving priveleges for a small duration of time and have the ability to obtain the permit again.
What kills more citizens in this country totaling all accidents regarding the two…firearms or automobiles…
Where am I going with this?..Plain and simple, we as americans dole out drivers licenses to FAR more p[eople that shouldn’t have them and in end result injure and/or kill more people every year than in comparison to firearms. You put someone behind the wheel in unstable mental condition and they now have control over a 2+ ton land missle that in reality can kill far more people in one shot that a “gun nut” with a loaded firearm on their persons. We require such stringent regulations to own something that’s documented in the damn bill of rights, yet give out a privelege to people who NEVER should get behind the wheel, and do so with minimal instruction and training.
Sickens me to no end.
^ I agree with you Adam. The problem is the media and liberals have people brainwashed into thinking that if they can outlaw firearms violent crime will cease. Funny thing is states with open carry laws have far lower crime rates then NYS, because there is a very good chance that if you try and inflict bodily harm on somebody or break into their house you will wind up in a body bag. Personally I support the backround checks they perform at a firearms store when buying long guns and think that should be the process for all firearm sales. Like you I take my right to keep and bear arms as a fundamentaly right for all Americans and so many things about this state anger me in that department. However the real problem is how nieve the public is about the subject. I went to a yuppie highschool and you wouldn’t believe the stupid shit I heard people say about firearms rights and the people that choose to exercise their second amendment rights. Either which way I will never give up my guns government mandated or otherwise.
Imo, you should be able to purchase a handgun just the same as you are able to obtain a rifle. The “bad guys” aren’t the ones buying from gun shops…why penalize the law obiding citizens?
Gun restrictions just make more criminals out of law abiding citizens. If a criminal wants a gun, they’re not getting it from a gun shop and they aren’t getting a background check. They’re not applying for permits or anything either. It’s bullshit how all the liberals make out ALL gun owners to be criminals and claim we should be like England with no guns for the citizenry. Sure, lets go ahead and look at their violent crime rates compared to ours.
No firearm ownership worked out well for England’s violent crime rate, lol.
These gun nazis are retarded to think the outcome would be any different.
Did anyone go to the gun show at the Pepsi over the weekend? I went to the one in saratoga the weekend before. they had a grenade launcher. A freakin grenade launcher. what they hell can you legally do with that? serriously, can a civilian even buy something like tear gas? if you can i’m buying it lol. it wasn’t to espensive even.
I’m not to knowledgable about guns. But my brother is. raised an interesting question. how do they legally sell hand guns at these shows? forget the waiting period… he has a concealed carry permit and he said that a judge has to sign off on every pistol he wants to buy. not sure how that can happen at a show or perhaps the rules are different buying at those places?
You buy the gun, get all the info, go down to your county clerk’s office who will forward to judge if needed, then you get amended permit. Some counties can do it instantly. Sometimes there are even people at gun shows who can do it as well.
As far as grenade launcher, it’d be illegal in NY if it’s a 40mm. Biggest possible I believe is 38mm to not be considered a destructive device. Don’t quote me on that. Was it a grenade launcher, or golf ball launcher, potato launcher, etc…?
Also, doing some legit research, I wanted to see the UK’s violent crime rate compared to ours. According to this research was is from 2009, the UK was the most violent country in the EU, with 2,034 crimes per 100,000 people. The US? 466. So the UK has more than 425% of the US’s violent crimes per 100,000 people.
Lets ban guns guys!
can be used for launching flares. seriously. theres one in the wantad right now also.
Gun experts, help me out. I’m looking to reduce the recoil/climb on my Tikka T3. Who makes a high quality muzzle brake, and who around here could properly install it(paging boxersix)? Also looking at a limbsaver as well, the 300Wsm in a 6.Xlb rifle kicks like a mule lol.
zack is the only place locally that carries limbsavers. Dont get the cheap butler creek knock offs they sucka nd are nothing like the limbsavers. As for a muzzle brake your going to have to send it out to have the barrel threaded and you going to have to find a .300 win mag muzzle brake with a diameter of the tikka barrel. If they exist they are probably going to be very expensive in the around $100-$150 plus i would expect around $80-$100 in sending the barrel out in threading. I would get a limbsaver first and/or a padded shooting jacket. I learned to live with it with my 30-06 remington 700
I don’t know which model you have, but on their site, it says the Tactical version has a threaded muzzle, and they recommend a Sako muzzle brake. My Blaser Tactical 2 had a Sako (also was .300WinMag) and the way the gun was designed it had virtually no felt recoil compared to say, a .308. On the Lite models, no magnum calibers have threaded muzzles.
Also, I have 220rds of high quality .300 WinMag here I’d love to get rid of lol.
yeah i was thinking flares might be something you could use it for.
The Tikka lites can be a trick. You will have to send the barrel out and have it properly threaded to accept the brake you’re going to use. Barrel is hammer forged and must be turned slowly.
Second you should either use the Sako brake, or the OPS brake. TPI will depend on the diameter of the thread at the end of the machining, which is determined by the overall diameter of the muzzle. This will typically be 5/8-24
Because the rifle is bolt action, you do not have to permanently affix the brake to the muzzle(IE pin and weld) but it still will need to me machined and indicated properly, and then should be affixed with a high temp threadlocker to avoid loosening.
You planning to use this rifle for hunting? If that’s the case you may want to consider trying just the limb saver first. Adding a brake to this rifle is going to make it VERY VERY loud in your direction. It will help with muzzle rise but doesn’t actually add to accuracy. It will make acquiring the target easier, but if you’re popping off more than one round at a deer maybe you should reconsider your targeting skills :lol
If you get the barrel threaded and buy a brake I can indicate and install the brake for you if you still want to go down this route. Limb savers are ~$35 at Zacks on Rt9(get off at exit 10, head north on 9, ~1.5 miles up on left, ask to Pete)
The rifle will not be used for hunting, so not overly concerned with the insane loudness that will come with it lol. As for getting the barrel threaded, who would you trust to do it correctly? I’ve also heard many gunsmiths want to cut the barrel down some to install the brake, any pros/cons with that? Definitely going the limbsaver route first, but have a feeling I’ll also end up doing a break as well. Thanks for the help guys!
