So the throttle cable on my S12 thought it would play a funny joke on me, and snap off from my gas pedal on the way home tonight. It was a funny trick that got me stranded about 15 mins from home. Luckily one of my bro’s came and picked me up and started calling around for a trailer. When nothing turned up, we came up with a tricky plan. I popped the hood and pulled the throttle cable back until the car was at just under 4000rpms. Then clamped on some vice grips, and sailed away. It started off pretty slow, but I was actually able to get into fifth gear and got going about 60 when I was gonna down a slope. Unfortunately it was mostly uphill so my speeds were pretty low, but I got home safe and the best part of all, no tow truck bill! It was pretty funny watching a light change 3 times before I got to it. Without tools in the car, it would still be sitting there, or the cops would have had it towed. Now, to fix the damn thing.
Oh those crafty throttle cables and their practical jokes!
good job dave …there has been some interesting situations for everyone I think …
Pretty good idea.
Yeah it was all good until I got stopped at a light, and a Prelude pulled up beside me. He started looking over to see why the hell i was revving so high, he and thought I wanted to race him. He wa staring at me just before it turned green, expecting a killer launch or something.
Too funny. Everything fixed now?
Hey, stop intimidating the Honda boys! I bet he didn’t even dare to try
Great work with the vice grips.
