What about firing Comey after telling him and others how good of a job he was doing? It’s almost impossible to prove intent in that case but it would certainly be an attempt at obstruction of justice.
Trump colluded with Russia but told Comey if there’s anything going on with anybody around him, it should come out? Huh?
Obstruction of justice? Lol
I’m honestly just asking questions…
Like I said nothing will come from this because you’re arguing conjecture and how someone interprets a comment…
It’s a giant waste of time and effort all the way around…If he said “Drop the case or you’re fired” cool run with that but they have nothing worth while at this point.
Right, I agree with that. Unless something is wildly different in the closed hearing this is just spinning up the public.
Except from the sounds of what Alan Dershowitz said, who knows more about constitutional law than all of NYSpeed combined, even that’s not illegal. So yeah, this is definitely a big waste of time.
I watched it and his opening answers about his firing were quite telling. He made it clear that he was always under the impression that as the FBI Director, he could be fired for any reason at any time. He also made it clear that the way the fired him sucked for him personally, as he saw several different reasons for the firing.
I sure wouldn’t be happy if I was told I was doing a great job over and over, only to be let go and then hear 3 or 4 different reasons why I was fired. Hell, Directory Comey also said he had no idea who actually made the recommendation, or why…
Watching that whole thing, Comey seems like a very stand-up guy. Straight forward. Hopefully he lands on his feet…
Personally I dont get what the big deal is. Every President lies and has lied, practically every politician lies on multiple occasion, what’s the big deal aside from this being a “liar” against the interest of the establishment?
On multiple occasions it was said that president Trump did not pursue the Flynn situation etc as somebody who wants something to go away because it would show collusion with Russia or some criminal act.
If anything this hearing has proven one thing, President Trump wants all this to go away so he can implement the agenda he campaigned on, something Comey said himself. Also that Trump can be an ass (the way of the firing) but did we know it to be any different? Who ever said this President is the nice cuddly uncle you want to spend time with your kid?
I come from a country where the president is basically a dictator and imprisons the opposition, maybe that’s why to me this is all just nonsense detracting from real issues at hand.
Edit: Something Dershowitz said is interesting, about the fact that the person who has the authority to give out pardons cannot “obstruct justice” ie fall under criminal act
LOL… Comey is still taking every opportunity to shit on Hillary too.
Former FBI Director James Comey revealed in Senate testimony Thursday that then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch directed him to describe the Hillary Clinton email probe as a “matter” and not an “investigation.”
He also said that the directive, combined with Lynch’s unusual Arizona tarmac meeting with former President Bill Clinton, led him to make his independent announcement regarding the Clinton email probe last July.
Also, Wall Street has already figured out the Comey thing is all smoke and no fire.
Well, right up until he got to the part about “I gave my memos to a friend so he could leak them to the media”. At that point he went from “stand up guy” to “why the fuck are we listening to anything this asshole has to say”.
Hopefully we can go back to talking about China hacking stuff instead of Russia…
It’s funny they brought up the fact the FBI never did incident response/forensics on the DNC servers and used only third party analysis to blame Russia.
Even Chris Matthews realizing the Russia story is now over:
and if you were to read any posts on Reddit, you’d think Trump is getting impeached, tried for treason, and Bernie is stepping in as President.
In order to prosecute a sitting President, you would need a slam-dunk homerun case with clear-as-day evidence. That doesn’t exist. So the conversation is over.
It was a dick move by pres, he’s an idiot and doesn’t understand government/politics at all.
I don’t think they’ll be able to hang Trump with obstruction of Justice, but it’s pretty clear that’s what Trump was trying to do. Trump’s team is going full force to discredit Comey but all I can see this doing to changing the subject at best, we all know what was going on.
Here is a good article with a lot of viewpoints that I was reading earlier. http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2017/06/08/james-comey-trump-russia-hearing-reaction-analysis-legal-experts-215239
If Trump was trying to shut it down, Im fine with that. He has the constitutional authority to do so. He could have said “Comey, as of this moment, you will drop the investigation.” and Comey would have to comply. Before anybody says it, it would not be an impeachable offense. The only offense is to the people who are trying to stall any implementation of Trumps agenda. Actually I think he is being too soft. He should go at it much harder to do what he wants to do. If the Dems are left in smoke and ashes at the end, even better.
There you go
Even one of the rare successes against the Islamic State belongs at least in part to Israel, which was America’s partner in the attacks against Iran’s nuclear facilities. Top Israeli cyberoperators penetrated a small cell of extremist bombmakers in Syria months ago, the officials said. That was how the United States learned that the terrorist group was working to make explosives that fooled airport X-ray machines and other screening by looking exactly like batteries for laptop computers.
if there was no collusion with Russia (which there probably wasn’t) then shutting down the investigation (which didn’t happen) wouldn’t have been obstruction anyways.
Pretty sure that doesn’t make sense…

Mmmhmm. I’m sure if a dem was in office you would have been cool with it then as well.
