The Trump Presidency Discussion Thread (Non-Meme version)

Sure. That’s why my comment was ‘this sentence alone’. Or I could have said ‘out of context’. It just sounds fucked up when you don’t specify with that the way you clearly do with nazi and fascist. Nazis and fascists are inherently awful. Not so when you say Muslim.

I’m aware. You missed what I was saying… See comment above.

@bing - stuff like this? I do feel bad in those cases. It goes with the old quote ‘I do not agree with what you have to say, but I’ll defend to the death your right to say it.’ The media singling him out shouldn’t have such negative impact to his personal life, but this isn’t much different than Trump singling people out and his supporters threatening them. No one should have to go through that for their political beliefs.

The media sure is having a field day with the fact that Trump hasn’t strongly condemned one side of a two sided fight yet and instead condemned violence by either side.

Remember when the media went after Obama the same way when he didn’t strongly condemn BLM after those cops got shot?

But when oh when will Trump disavow white supremacy?

I remember back when I was in college some white power group had a march here in Buffalo and people were all pissed off. Instead of going down there and starting a riot though they let them have their march because the great thing about the 1st Amendment is people have the right to say terrible shit you don’t agree with. The came, they did their march, and it was over. They got very little coverage and it was no big deal. Now the counter protests show up with pepper spray and we end up with states of emergency and dead people.

Also, can the media please stop saying 3 people are dead because of this alt-right demonstration? 2 of those were cops that died when they crashed a police helicopter. Unless someone from the alt-right is found to have shot it down that’s hardly their fault. 3 dead makes a better #fakenews headline than 1 dead I guess.

yes exactly that.

if this costs him a whole bunch i wonder if the media will be libel since they are largely the ones framing how people are interpreting what happened. but then again, he did make the conscious decision to participate in that march.

True. It probably depends on what is being said. You can’t sue the media for simply having your picture up or even just stating what group you’re part of. When you’re out in public there is no reasonable assumption of privacy to fall back on.

yah its going down in full force now:

lots of people actively trying to out/dox all these dudes.

I can’t figure how they get around any of this to be honest. doxxing will likely be quite effective.

le more…

Free speech has consequences. Act like an asshole, get treated like an asshole.

It’s funny when Anonymous doxs people but then has a melt down when it happens to them…

^ This. If you show up at one of these things, for either side, don’t be surprised when there are consequences back in your day to day life. It’s getting to the point where posts here will probably one day get you blocked from future employment. Guess it’s time to change my name from JayS to something more anonymous.

@ImWithHer is available.

pretty sure this is one reason why many people don’t do anything online at all.

i figure i’m already in this deep… plus anything conservative i type now could be counter-balanced by all the liberal stuff i used to post

I could see him more going with @billclintonsarapist

doxxing the white guys at the rally is now front page of CBC news:

From a couple years ago…

this will probably switch back soon but man… nice work whoever hacked Pence’s site.

holy crap some of that brilliant

I need to get me some mouth corner ointment

EDIT: That’s not his actual website. It’s not advertised as the official website for him on any official page that I’ve seen.

http://mikepence.com is listed on one of this facebook pages, but that re-directs to http://donaldjtrump.com . Twitter lists http://donaldjtrump.com as his website.
His Vice President page on facebook just lists whitehouse.gov

Lastly, that content has been up there for several days, so if that was his official site, it definitely wouldn’t have lasted that long. Good lesson in domain purchasing.

yeah, its getting slow to navigate but that is some epic trolling

That website is pure gold. haha.

On another note, this just happened.

I chose to only watch the video and not read the article. He’s not handling this issue in a very unifying way. What’s so hard about condemning the terrorist act and that his motives were completely misguided? Why isn’t he distancing himself from these people?

He isn’t distancing himself from the right and alt-right because that’s who put him in to office.

I think what people on the left should be worried about is that what if all of this brings out even MORE people from the right and get gets even more votes next time around.

I don’t think Trump is a unifying character and this current political climate is near insanity. The media is making it worse and maybe even driving much of it.

I also read that there are 9 conservative marches planned this coming weekend targeting google campuses across the country in response to firing the dude over the memo.

Can you imagine this happens 9 more times this weekend??? Holy F.

I think no matter what side you’re on you gotta be a little worried.

9 conservative marches is fine. 9 marches with nazi flags and white power salutes is not. No matter which is it though the media will find a way to cover as the latter.

Tried to google it and did find their official site:
http://www.marchongoogle.com/
Despite that sounding exactly nothing like nazis, white supremacy or alt-right that’s what basically every other search result returned. Of course I was searching with google. Interestingly, in a sick feeling at the bottom of your stomach kind of way, the Bing search results seem far less biased. Is google leaning on the algorithm a bit since this hits so close to home? Try searching “march on google” on various search engines and let me know what you think.

What are your thoughts on Trump actually defending the white supremacists and neo-nazis during the press conference yesterday? And trying to draw a moral equivalency between them and the counter protesters? Am I misunderstanding his own statements? Forget what the media is saying for 10 seconds and just focus on what the man himself said.

Not to mention comparing George Washington and Thomas Jefferson to Robert E Lee…
