The TRUTH about HID's

Benny,

I was going to grab these for the Supra, but I dont want beam scatter etc… These are just too cheap it makes me nervous.

Well to prevent beam scatter your going to want housings that are meant for HID’s. Generaly putting an HID Bulb into a stock headlamp housing isnt going to prodeuce the best results because HID’s are brighter and how the light is scatterd is a bit differant

It will work, but you wont get optimal view and you will probably piss of the cars infront of you

I guess it’s more sleeper too without them, cops aren’t looking for halogen lights. bright ass HID’s from a mile away sure wouldn’t help my cause.

HID’s are getting ridiculous, even in factory cars now. Yes they are great on dark backroads, but when your lowbeams are birghter than my highbeams and pointed at my face, well its pretty retarded. Not to mention im sick of retards putting blue, not a tint of blue but straight up blue looking HID’s in their cars… They need to be ticketd for not having the right housing for the bulbs (it is techncaly illegal to have HID’s in a factory hallogen housing) impersonating an emergency vehicle, and reckless endangerment to other drivers for blinding them

My headlights are JDM so they’re illegal, I hope to swap the TSX projector housings and go HID by spring time. Would they still be illegal then?

LMAO yea i would be one of those douche bags with the blue hids over last winter into spring

No idea, i doubt a cop would bust your balls thou

Yeah I dont even care, just wondering.

BTW, JDM halogen projectors suck! Since there made for RHD cars they aim high on left. :headbang

no adjustment?

There are basic adjustments (up/down, left/right) but the horizontal line that most projectors have are like this:

___ ___ (sharp cutoff below line)

The Silvia projectors are like this:

__ __ But the angle isn’t as steep, more like 20-30deg.

It’s all built into the lens/projector housing.

It is definitely a bad idea to put HID’s into a stock housing because of the glare. But lots of people can’t afford to spend upwards of $500 on a nice set of retrofits so everyone ends up doing it. My retrofit cost me $750 after HID kit and bi-xenon harness costs were included.

ninety1two40…Your headlight wouldn’t be legal, technically, since they weren’t made for your car…but the retrofits would be using DOT approved parts so you could definitely fight your way out of any tickets.

My $0.02? Unless your car came with HID’s, PLEASE do a retrofit. Go big or go home.

I got pulled over in May and got a compliment about my headlights lol.
