Plans are im going to clean up this motor and remove the current one before I leave for vacation and begin swaping over parts. Then when I come back from vacation Im going to finish swaping over the bolt ons and install the PT clutch.
Plan on parting out the current block and top end parts (SRT guys, you’ll get a decent bump in hp useing stock 2.0 cams so PM if you’d want them)
and probably port and polish the head and get some crane #18 cams.
Im not going all out on the new motor. once the new one is installed the car is basically going to be used as a bad and forth to work vehicle and a weekend toy. When i buy a new car this thing is getting stripped and then i’ll start building bigger.
finished painting the block today and got a few more things to clean up then next friday i’ll start removing.
heres what happened about 2 months ago, I just slapped new bearings in and didnt drive it much til I get the new motor in.
The new motor is going to be port matched today and cleaned up as far as I can get a die grinder in and without hitting valves. then the current head thats on the car now will have a complete port n polished job with some wicked cams. then I’ll be lookin for a fun new car and a townhouse
well back from vacation on friday, so I started then… woke up at 8am thursday and went playin around down OBX and fished til 1am… Left at 3am and got into town at around 5pm ( we stopped a few places and spent about 2 hours at ohiopyle screwin around). I started on the motor around 6pm and didnt stop til 1.
Screwed around on saturday and slacked off taking my time…
Today I got Most the work done, Here are the Pics…
I expect to be done sometime tomorrow or tuesday if I take my time…
Update: 8/13
almost done, got just a few things to finish
polished up the intake too
BUT… Im having a problem with my alternator or the power wire that goes to it… I cant get the alternator to charge the battery and everywhere i go to get the alternator tested theres frickin retards that dont know how to work the machine to know if the alternator is bad or good. I did however hook up a test light to the power wire to the alternator and im getting no power. So my problem could be in the wire instead of the alternator… should be fixed today and up and running
I got the head off the old motor and its going to be portnpolished with addition of some agressive cams sometime in the near future.
on another note… I think i’ve figured out the problem with the alternator… theres a wire that runs from it into a bunch of wires that run to the front of the engine… I beleive I accidently grounded the wire from the alternator when its suppose to be connected to the positive of the starter… whoops lol
I’ll find out in a few mins.
Now I need to work on the suspension cuz its complete SHIT!
thinking of going with KYB’s and Mopar highrates (1" lower but better springrates) Probably around $500 to replace everything including strut mounts.
Or go the other route and get some Ksport Coilovers… and wont have to worry about strut mounts. I can get them for around $550 shipped. I think that would be my best bet.
ya, i was thinking that route… but Koni’s will run me 500 alone, plus mopar high rates, your lookin 750… and i wouldnt run anything but high rates since any other spring will blow out the pricey konis
I like the ride on the high rates, only lowers 1 inch but has really good spring rates. but i cant stand the wheel gap you still get.
I can get ksports for around 550 shipped almost brand new
