Saturn Vue: Built by Isuzu, powered by a HONDA 3.5L V6. Chrysler Crossfire: Powered by Mercedes-Benz. Chevy Cobalt: Powered by SAAB. There are even rumors (I don’t know it for a fact) that the last push-rod 2.2L engine in the Cavalier was made by Toyota. Everyone has their hands in the automotive cookie jar. Even the “holy land” of GM f-bodies had a great deal of Japanese parts. Hell my Bora is made in freaking Mexico. The point is the market has changed and the “American Car” is no longer something exclusive. GM realized this in the early 90’s with the introduction of Saturn. The American car that was to gain a part in the Japanese car market.
Do I feel a need to defend my type of car. Hell yeah, 'cause I don’t have a Camaro or a Mustang, or even a Honda. VW owners are something different. And before anyone thinks thinks it, I don’t think we’re better. I like a car that blow a Camaro off the road and get 32 mpg while doing it. That’s me. It may not be you. I hate “ricers” as much as everone else, but they don’t understand that body kits don’t add HP. My car is quiet (I wish it weren’t) and will blow the doors off some of these stupid civics with thier gay altezza lights. I also hate people with VW’s that do the same stupid things to thier GTI’s. Be proud of what you have, but don’t talk shit unless you plan to back it up. In the mean time, I’ll keep adding the miles to my German cars, and I hope you can on whatever you drive. Can my car beat yours? I don’t know, but I’ll sure try!
