this civic is nothing but problems

Ok so my brakes keep locking on me on the passenger side…the pedal feels normal then like after a hour of driving the pedal starts to get real hard then it starts to stop on its own…

I put new brakes, brake hoses, calipers, pads on the front passenger and driver side.I also replaced the little whistle that’s on the vacum hose on the brake booster or cylinder w.e its called.

What can it be any ideas on what else I can replace or do so it don’t lock anymore?

maybe the prop valve?

Wats the prop valve

Proportioning valve.

ek with drums?

Adjust the pedal to booster pushrod so that it takes a little more pedal travel to start to stop.

Yes its a ek with drums…

But do u think by me adjusting the push rod under the dash its going to solve the problem with the brakes keep locking on the passenger side??

I think the push rod is adjusted a bit tight and the fluid is heating up as you drive, expanding, and putting pressure on the pads. Really, it’s a shot in the dark, I have no idea.

did this start happening before or after you replaced the “little whistle” (check valve)? If it was happening after and not before, there is a good chance you put it in backward.

I do actually think u are rite and do have a point.because it does tend to seem like its heating up while I drive…thank u I am going to try adjustig the pedal.

Its been happening ever since I put the car back on the road after my engine bay got painted and the motor was dropped in.I do think it has something to do with adjusting the pedal because when I sent the engine bay to get painted they had took the booster out…so I’m going to give that a try

if your pedal is getting rock solid it’s your booster not working properly. Hard pedal = booster issue/ no pedal = hydraulic issue. If they had your booster out it’s possible they damaged a seal and it’s not holding vacuum causing the pedal to get hard.
