Thomas Kreutzer? Is He On Here?

You know, it was hard for me to decide whether or not I wanted that light color interior. I’ve always been a blue collar guy and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been forced to buy a dark color interior so I wouldn’t stain the hell out of it with dirty pants. This time I decided to go for it - I work in an office, not under trailer houses (anymore). I’m glad I did, it still looks great.

I’ve posted several stories that have been kind of downbeat in tone, the article about the 200SX was the first that really hit some people in the gut and then the one on my father’s Oldsmobile brought out a lot of feeling too. Car guys tend to be pretty deep people, a lot of us have relationships with cars for real emotional reasons, not just to go fast. It starts out because we want to go fast, but when we invest ourselves in our vehicles, add some of our ego and a lot of our hard earned cash these things become important to us. I write what I see as the truth about that and that triggers others to write their own stories. That’s what makes the whole thing worth while, honestly.

Thanks for the link - I’ll have to check that site out too.

I see you have to pay to be a member over there. I’m sure that’s why I didn’t join before. - Looking at some of the other cars, you guys may be right, the front bumper of mine may be missing the lower part. I don’t see any mounting holes down there so I wonder if the front was swapped out sometime in the past?

If that’s the case, that’s a pisser.

Eh, I haven’t paid anything and I’ve been a member for many moons now! You should have a gray valance underneath the cover on yours. One guy mentioned on TTAC that they scrape a lot. He’s right.

Well it’s definitely a goner. How is it attached, clips or something? I would expect some nothing holes or something. I’ll have to roll around under there the next time the weather gets warm.

I must have looked at that site a half an hour before I figured out how to sign up. They spend so much effort trying to get you to join their club it’s hard to figure out how to just sign up.

I’ve read that site before, but even then never signed up because it looked like there was a pay wall.

Another cool article: http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2013/06/thomas-kreutzer-interviews-thomas-kreutzer-and-finds-common-ground/#more-493197

Thanks for the continued interest even in what I am writing though I haven’t stopped by very much lately. As anyone who reads TTAC knows they had a big shake up last week. For me that means I have been formally added to the staff and am now getting paid for my stuff.

To that end I just posted up a wanted ad in the classified section here and on Craigslist looking for any kind of old Turbo Dodge (running or not) I can pick up cheap and fiddle with. I think it might make for some fun articles. If you all know someone who has something they want to get rid of cheap, point them my way, please.

I can’t follow all the back story stuff over there, lol.

Did you see the turbo Dodge that Top Gear has in town? See this thread: http://www.nyspeed.com/showthread.php?240938

That Starion/Conquest TSI they had? Those things were bad ass back in the day. They even had radio controls on the steering wheel - real futuristic stuff… They still look pretty cool but I hear they are kind of fragile.

I am looking to get rid of my spirit r/t thomas. shoot me a PM.

Thanks Mark, I’d really rather have something with two doors. I appreciate your offer, though.

That’s outstanding! I was friended by Steve Lang on FB and kind of watched it all go down. I don’t really comment over there often, but I hope it all shakes out for you man

So you’re looking for a turbo Shadow, Omni GLH, that kind of stuff? I’ll keep my eyes peeled on Roclife, too.

I was sad to see both Steve and BS go. Steve’s posts are what initially attracted me to the site and I have learned a lot about the car business from him. BS added a lot too. He obviously has a lot of inside connections and can get real info on upcoming products etc. It was sad to see it all fall apart for what I am sure was supposed to have been a stupid joke.

This is bad ass

I think anyone living in Buffalo who’s driven the 290->90 can empathize with this article: http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2014/04/final-fight-of-the-300/

Cube > 300M

I hate that section of highway.

That should have been a double-downshift, he only manually dropped one. The four-speed autos in these things are dumber than a post though.

I think Mr. Kreutzer’s not long for WNY. If memory serves he’s leaving in June or July this year

Bump, now in Japan and imported his minivan there because 'Merica:

I’d like to say that it is for you, dear reader, but that’s not entirely true. The real reasons run more towards the fact that I am reluctant to throw away thousands of hard-earned dollars by selling my still fairly new van at a huge mark down.

… because Chrysler stopped selling its vans in Japan around 2010, they are seldom seen here which leads into my last line of reasoning: patriotism.

I love this dude’s articles.
