where you at lowleyoilburner?!?
Honda guys did that ??? <3
pie cuts
you have to with titanium.
its TI…cant make tight radius bends
Ti welding…Holy $10K budget
goddamn thats sick
the weight of it is just absolutely crazy, the turbo probably weighs 4x as much as the manifold and exhaust together
suprised i didnt see a tial housing used for the turbo
Later in the thread someone suggests the Tial ss housing but the guy already had a Borg Warner s362 I think?
It’s going into a rear or mid engined K series Mini cooper. Going to be so awesome. I hope he slams it on way to wide rims, supposedly it’s a show car.
there are pics of the car. I saw it.
It’s got super wide fenders, CF ROOF, CF hatch, cf hood. pretty crazy suspension setup. the whole nine basically.
Can’t they be hot formed? In other words it can be done but it’s just expensive… well, actually its probably cheaper than paying that welder $$$ per hour.
I digress, I understand why they used pie cuts. I just don’t like them.
I think he mentioned they are INSANELY difficult to get ahold of. The company that CAN supply them requires you to prove you work with the US gov’t or something.
edit:
link to the car’s build

he is talking about the elbows that he bought to make the manifold, he isnt talking about buying tight radius bends for the exhaust etc
and ya bw362 is being used its pretty damn crazy, he said he had over 2000 hours into it
ahhh, gotcha
As already stated, Pie Cuts. Ew.
I’d rather just use Inconel and avoid that.
There is nothing wrong with piecuts from a performance perspective… but just cosmetic really
And cosmetically they look like dog shit. I will NEVER own a car with pie cuts.
They definitely don’t flow as well as mandrel bends especially if the welder isn’t top notch.
depends on the size of the tubing and the amount of gas going through…
but exhaust tubing after the turbo it has almost 2 change in performance/flow…
Pret turbo and smaller diameter tubing like an exhaust manifold/headers would have a change in flow, but it probably wouldn’t matter much
