does anybody know the exact law when it comes to a cop giving you a ticket by direct observation and verified by pace? i need to know tonight so any later and it wont be help but thanks anyways.

what do you mean … cop had you on the radar or no? if not its still his word against yours, i just got a ticket a few weeks ago from like a block away and it got tossed, if theres no radar and mph was estimated it could be profiling? i dunno… sorry if im way off just tryin to help… gl

lawyers are over rated for traffic court unless you got in some serious shit. i’m just gonna go make the cop look like a jackass.

Some officers actually have the training and authority to issue speeding tickets based on their observation.

Yup they used to train them how to pace count yelow or white dotted lines on the road to judge speed. If anything you can get it reduced for inaccuracy but generally the law says the officers judgement is always right if he wants to push the fact

i lost a case thinking the same way, no radar no case but thats not true, before they are given radar guns they are taught to pace cars and estimate the speed,

thats why in some towns they give you two numbers such as estimated speed 45 in a 30 and radar gun speed 46 in a 30 ( bethlehem )

“Pace in speed zone” is bullshit. Any lawyer worth his ballbag can get that reduced substantially, or dropped. What was the “direct observation” speed? What was the speed limit in the area?

You mean every one I think.

I know the court will generally lower charges or throw out charges not verified by radar but the actual way its supposed to be done is the Police Officer should SEE you speeding, and if he can, use radar in addition but technically he doesn’t even need to.

i knew cops could do it by observation, but there are regulations when it comes to giving a ticket that way just like any other way they give u ticket. and it was dropped down to parking on pavement. i accepted instead of chancing in trial. but i didn’t think they were gonna offer me reduction a second time thought i would just go to trial.
