I see a lot of talk about tickets on here, and it is hard to say when a lawyer is really necessary.
I’ve been pulled over a lot in my 12 years of driving, and always plead not-guilty to tickets, go in and they get reduced.
I have had 4 tickets at once, and still didn’t need a ticket (wreckless driving, unsafe start, no front plate, and some other one…) and they were reduced and i just paid a fine and went to school.
If you had no points on your license, what do you think it would take to get a lawyer?
DWI, of course. Any type of felonies duh…
How about just speeding. How fast over would you think you’d need to be going to call a lawyer? Say you were in a 30 MPH zone… 80? 55?
anything that would put me in jeopardy of losing my license. I think at this point, Id always go to court alone and try to get it dismissed on my own, only to rely on an attorney if the DA or prosecutor wasn’t kind to me.
i go to court next week. was driving the evo and the cop had a field day with me.
speeding 60 in 40, improper/no signal, no front plate. im going with no lawyer hoping they all get reduced. if they offer me a deal with points im not accepting and coming back with a lawyer
with this Driver Responsibility Assessment fee of $300+ for going 20+ over the speed limit, it could very well call for paying a few hundred to a lawyer to try to reduce the ticket as much as possible or get out of it.
I’m using http://www.nytrafficlawyer.com right now for a ticket my wife got because they are just down the street and are still able to fight the ticket even though it’s outside albany or something.
I’ve never used a lawyer for myself, I just plead not guilty and take the deal which is usually pretty sweet, but that was before the extra fees.
when the attorney has a special relationship with the court is a good time.
I’ve seen people win and lose with attorneys so it’s not always a case where they can help. Everybody posts when an attorney wins for them, people feel a fool and don’t say anything when they paid the money and lost…
i always go by myself first, ive never had to get a lawyer but the only time i would get one is if they offered me a deal with points. f that noise, paying the extra for a lawyer and have a clean record is way worth it.
i had a double speed limit (62 in a 30) and a no front plate ticket in Amherst.
I plead not guilty. Big fine and no points as well as school. I had nothing on my record, but if I did I doubt I’d have gotten an expensive slap on the wrists…
