Time display on FIOS box?

Any of you with FIOS - do your set top boxes randomly decide not to show the time for prolonged periods of time? I know where you can go in to the settings to set it to show the channel or the clock on the front display, and mine is set to show the clock but it primarily shows the channel or DVR status.

super annoying, anyone know how to fix it?

Fuck, mine does this too. Every box in the house does it. What gives?

Mine’s fine. Randomly says “channel not available” until I unplug it for 30 seconds, can’t record HD, but it displays the time fine. I gotta get this thing replaced.

d.) none of the above

im confused

anyways i found out why this does it and how to fix it (well a work around).

everytime they issue a new update to the boxes it changes it back to showing the channel instead of time, but if doesnt reflect it in the settings. so despite the fact that you may have changed it in settings –> set top box –> front display, you need to change it again. Everytime it will show that it is set to show time, but if you change it back to “channel” and then back to “clock” again it will work until the next update or until they fix their updates.

i was getting so sick of waking up, seeing “502” on my DVR box thinking its 5am and to start waking up for work and find out its fucking 1:45am

i get this too :frowning:

sounds pretty common. a month or two ago it would happen to almost every channel for me.

You’re a newly minted daddy, you’re not supposed to be sleeping anyways.

lol that makes it so much worse… i’ll be beat from getting up and then be too tired to notice that it is not actually 5:02 until after i’ve showered and started getting ready.

:fu:

i’m truly surprised i haven’t raged and thrown my dvr box out of my bedroom window by now

How about buying a normal clock, seems like an easy and cheep thing to do right?
