I’ll say this from the start, if you want technical information directly directed at your car make and model, there is a dozen well established informational forums out there and a million links with answers that you can get instantly by searching instead of waiting on a reply or two. There is no point in trying to compete with them and that was never the goal.
This started as a newspaper support forum to have the articles posted, and as the printed newspaper slowly died off the forum picked up and became it’s own entity in locality specialty. If you want to find local help, local deals, local opinions, local events or just general local drama, we are the place to go (Modern day APG ;D ), there is no other competition or other sites that can help you out with that in our scale. That’s our specialty and that’s how we differ from the vast majority of other forums.
I for one will agree that the constant banter that goes on in topics should be generally split to appropriate section (most of the time Trashbin). That is not overmoderating or going in the ways or Rspeed. We pride ourselves in complete freedom of speech besides obvious limitations of direct verbal abuse and threats. We do not delete or edit posts at our will.
We even have a member based thread lock policy which is the first of it’s kind, and it is indeed member based.
As it sits now, we are the leading upstate Auto and Moto forum, by all stats, beating some state wide forums by most stats, with only one state wide forum that I’m aware off as a direct competition by numbers. But they are state wide and mostly western (No not Rspeed), so it wouldn’t be fair to go against them.
I sincerely apologize about the lack of vB as of yet and I take full responsibility. The software is purchased and generally ready, but the layout and some coding are not, and I’m to blame. The money was only spend on forum software and forum related expenses, I can assure you of that. And Brew, unlike Rspeed, I’ve never asked for any money, of the members voluntarily collected the money and forced me to take it. I grew up refusing nearly everything that’s offered to me, in Russia the hospitality is second to none and as a guest you will be treated to the full meal in a house even if that means the family won’t eat for the next day. I grew up knowing that and feeling guilty about things offered to me from other parties. I know it’s not it’s not the case in America but it stuck with me, and generally speaking I refuse any sort of offer, or try to at least give back something of equal value in return.
As far as Timmay, he’s come and went. I still talk to him. He’s a busy man and has helped us out get started and has moved on, having no negative remarks about the current situation and occasionally wondering how things are going on here.
In Cliffs, I personally think the banter that strays far from the original topic should be split into it’s own. That way both of discussions can co-exist in peace without getting either of the parties upset. More splitting? Yes. Reading material in a thread that’s actually relevant to the title clicked? I’d love to see that.
I don’t mind the banter, it will happen, but I like to keep it to itself. More moderating help will be required and I do have a qualified gentleman lined up. A lot of moderators are doing a fantastic job, some have reduced their activity and will be dealt with.
I’ll elaborate more as I see replies.

the only reason you were offered a mod position was b/c your posts per day was high and we knew you spent a lot of time on there… so figured you’d be good enough to mod the site… but having a mod on the forum not be a supporting member on the forum is kinda weak… if your gunna help policing the site then supporting the site with a ONE TIME PAYMENT of $5 is something i would think goes hand and hand
