They are totally different cars. Drive them and see which suits you better. People that like one, most likely aren’t going to like the other and as such you aren’t going to get anything other than a bunch of opinions that mean nothing in comparison to your own…

GTOs are pretty much the deal of the century right now. You can pick them up really cheap. Not as fast as the F-bods but a better all around car. Rides a lot nicer and interior is way better.

comparing the ls1 to the ls2… is it worth getting the ls2 and paying a few more g’s… or can I get an Ls1…and mod it to about the same hp to the ls2

i think theyre both roughly the same hp, i believe the only difference is the heads (model year dependent) and a GTO is heavier than a Fbod. plus fbods are solid rear axles. i like the styling better on trans ams than GTO’s for sure. id rather take a lower mileage 01-02 fbod than a lower mileage 04-05 gto

ls1 is 350 hp. ls2 is 400. but intake and exhaust on the ls1 should get u close to the 400 hp mark

I have driven an 04 GTO 6sp and a B5 S4 6sp.

I actually might like the GTO’s interior over the Audi, and the ride was very good. I didn’t think the Audi rode much better than the GTO. The GTO was very easy to work on(installed headers) and also shifted beautifully. The GTO needed an $85 tie rod though, so some parts for the car will be expensive because they came from australian and only existed for 3 years. You can’t do to the GTO what you can do to a solid axle mustang, but if it’s a DD you shouldn’t be doing those things anyways.

Both are drab looking cars.

But that being said I am considering a stage 3 B5 S4(more like 60k though) as a DD, it’s the only thing that I would want to drive if I consolidate to one car. But you have to be willing to pay for maintenance.
