I just looked at a $15,000 GTO with 33k and it was a complete POS. I can’t believe the dealer was selling it with so many broken interior pieces and the engine running like garbage.
High mileage VAG product + 120 mile per day commute = FUUUUCK no.
60 miles each day for work forget the audi and the GTO. Start looking at diesel power.
im just here to say i suggest you buy a honda
This thread :picard:
I can’t believe that I’m recommend the CTS-V (no joke). it walks the line between the two cars and fits your needs better than either.
Don’t buy an S4.
I commute from fredonia about 3-4 times a week and I have been ok with a RWD car all winter long. I have no problem driving 75mph down the 90 when its covered in snow, as long as you have snows its not that bad.
I dont have a GTO but I’m sure is simular to my 3 series in the snow.
Yeah, they do a good job with the 90 though. I was thinking more if you lived or worked inside the snowbelt and needed to drive on the rural/city/side streets a lot. I wouldn’t want to be DDing my GTO through that kind of snow every day, even with my good snow tires.
^ the 90 sucks in the am from fredonia to a little past silver creek, you would be surprised.
I agree If I had a driveway like blueeyed devil I would have a awd car too.
lol thats what they are like right off the dealers lot. i walked away from that test drive like wtf? really?
^Center Street has got to be the worst; in the snow belt (check) on a big ass peak with lots of wind(check) no street lights (check) county maintained (check). lol
Holland Glenwood too; steep, long, curvey, snowy, dark, county.
FedEX leaves packages at my dad’s house around the corner, they won’t even attempt my driveway. lol
Right? :picard:
You drive a mechanical time bomb.
Out of the 3 audi’s I’ve owned, all of them have been shitty in one aspect or another. No car is perfect, especially not a VAG product after a lot of use.
At least with the GTO, you can count on that engine to run forever, and if it breaks you can fix it with little to no knowledge of cars.
you dont really “need” AWD for anything. i drive from west seneca to NU every other day in my integra with no LSD, and allseason tires
awd is probably more of a want than a need. there is only 1 or 2 days out of the year where you actually NEEED 4wd/awd and guess what, there is either a driving ban or work is closed.
my dad’s penis is bigger than your dad’s penis.
what a bunch of pickel smoochers, worst GA thread ever.
uhh what? :picard:
first off the 4.2l v8 that i own is not the mechanical time bomb i think you are refering to, it would be the 2.7t.
i will agree no car is perfect but at the same time the build quality of the pontiac gto i felt was truly sub par. it was like the whole car just felt cheap. interior bits were falling off or fell off during the drive. the shifting felt like poop. overall like i said just wasnt impressed, but at the same time dont get me wrong im sure it can do a great burnout and i bet it is fast and can be made faster for really cheap but for a car you will be in everyday when you are looking for a great daily driver? ill pass.
as far as milage i have never had a problem with any vag product with high miles and i have had quite a few.
but i guess im just lucky???
read above comment
I find it impossible to believe you had that experience with a new example. Unless it was one of the ones in the ship that capsized coming over from Australia. The Holden interior build quality was at least on par with a VAG product.
you dont have to believe me im sure minglor will chime in soon enough to agree what a let down it was.
believe me i was going into that very open minded cause brian talked them up so much.
Were you ever around another one, new or used?
