time for a new computer. taking recommendations

this just in:

Blkp42e just admits he sucks cawk

:greddy:

i was making a living!!! i got paid under tha table for brian so i didnt have to comply with sexual harassment laws :frowning:

Ok, i dont remember who said it, but celeron’s are definitely not bad, especially considering the money you save when buidlign w/ one.
To this person: How many computers have you built with each type of processor… you probably havent even built one w/ a celeron… ok, maybe 1… I know that P4’s are better than celerons… every P4 i have built (at the same clock as a celeron) is a little bit faster than the celeron computer… but not enough for the average person to even notice! It’s hardly noticeable by me…
As far as AMD, i used to love AMD… thought they were the best bargain for the money… but the last 3 i’ve built, i’ve been very very dissapointed with… i built my g/f’s computer with an Athlon XP 2800+ and its nothing like what it SHOULD run like… i am most dissapointed with it… I love my laptop (AMD Athlon XP mobile 2400+), it runs great… but i have been very very pissed w/ AMD lately…
I have built a million computers over the past several years… and from experience, i feel that if you are trying to save money, a Celeron is the best bang for the buck… other than the Duron 1.8 - that thign is a monster… and is very cheap right now on Tiger dircet (and i have ordered many parts off of TD and never had a problem)…

So since he seems to be on a budget, and not willing to spend all the cash in the world, why suggest to him a Athlon 64… you can built a whole computer for what you’d pay for just the Athlon 64 processor… liek i said before, my suggestion would be the Duron or a Celeron… then if you wanna spend a lil more money, go with P4…

but no one on here respects anyone else’s opinion, so i’ve probably just wasted my time typing this… good luck Darkstar

please stop talking out of your ass.

explain the actual advantages / disadvantages otherwise don’t waste your time posting.

and for the record i run some celerons… caching is the only true issue i see.

blow me dickweed…
you can talk numbers all you want, all day long… when it comes down to it, its how it runs to you, personally, and what you’re looking to do with it…

how much building have you done w/ each type of processor? you can know all the numbers you want, but you probably have no idea how each one runs once its ACTUALLY RUNNING… stfu

IBsonny>youwithcomputers

yea w/e… are you on the “numbers tell the whole story” bandwagon too?

no. im just sayng his knowledge > yours

i agree its all in how it runs.

in what fucking way?

I think you all should fist fight at high noon tomarrow for computer superiority…

Fixed.

eh. nevermind

Why is it that computer nerds always think they know more than the next guy?

Everyone knows their little section of the huge pc world. Whitey may know servers and programming, fshowcars may know about what it takes to keep servers and pc’s running in his company, I know what it takes to keep the pc’s and servers connected and secure at my network but everything is different once you get into a new network. I can’t fucking stand when some fuckstick employee comes in here and says “I built a pc for my neighbor and we did it this way, why don’t you guys set the pc’s up differently” Fuck off douchebag, you don’t know shit(is what I would like to say)

We all know something about computers, leave it at that. I’ll admit that there are a lot of people that know a lot more about computers than I do, but I get by in my job.

sonofabish knows everything i guess!

so lets take a quick look at NewEgg’s site. i spec’d a 3ghz, 800fsb, 1mb cache, hyperthreading for 177.99

and lets take a look the fastest celeron they have!

Intel Celeron (Pentium 4 based) 2.6 GHz 400MHz FSB, 128K Cache - Retail - 88.99
400mhz, 128k cache

you lose, processing power, bus speed, cache size, and hyperthreading…

but you save 90 dollars

doesn’t make sense to this guy

X2. I know a little bit about networking, setup, and :blah: . I know more about PHP programming, HTML, MySQL, etc. just from experience. I’m sure more computer people on here know more than me.

wrong, my skill set

windows OS, unix OS, backup storage devices, programming, server builds, pc builds, networking and not your dinky home networking, robotics, dynamics of deploying large office systems, blah blah blah

i am sure sonny can list of other things he knows…

you can’t possibly know everything, the field is too big.

I spent a few years in pc’s and now i’m into networking/server stuff. I can’t stand programming and will never learn it. same with routers and switches, I know a little but just enough to be dangerous.

I was just generalizing :moon:

i would never say i know everything, but i know quite a bit. i entertain peoples opinions all the time… shit i have to listen to people all day tell me how things are supposed to work…

add db administration and design, and mail windows and unix
