Looking good man keep the pictures coming
Well, we put in a lot of work this weekend, even in the rainā¦lol
We basically have the garage erected now, just need to put up the rear gable end, and sheet over/shingle the roof.
The shingles and doors should be arriving on Friday, so hopefully next weekend I can complete my roof and shell in the garage. Here are some snaps from the weekend.
Saturday:
Trusses:
Motivation:
First Wall:
Sill Gasket:
Almost Done:
Extensions:
Few snaps of inside:
Sunday:
Trusses and the wooden scaffolding that we built inside for putting the trusses up.
View from behind the garage
First truss up.
Half finished
Complete.
Except the rear gable end.
As you can see, by the end of the day, we were working in the dark with a light stand and generator, in the pouring rainā¦haha
Towed the 240 home yesterday.
It will sleep behind the old manās garage now until I get mine shelled in, and ready to go.
Then itās time to get wrenching.
It was surprisingly easy to roll onto the dolly over the rampsā¦the thing is LIGHT stripped down.
And about towing on the rear wheelsā¦the drivetrain is sitting in my living room, so no worriesā¦
Hooked up, and on the way.
Some highway shots.
I couldnāt help but notice the rear camber the whole way.
And home in Colliers.
Update from this weekend.
First I packed up the temporary garage that was my living room and moved it all home, where it will soon fill my newly built garage.
The things that I had poked in closets, and behind couches and such basically filled a 12x6 enclosed trailerā¦My living room is MINT nowā¦
Then we got to work.
But firstā¦the only āside by sideā with an SR20
Saturday we got the rear gable end up, and did the eveās.
We finished up early to provide extra Halloween drinking timeā¦

And after
Sides/Back
On Sunday we sheeted over about 3/4 of the roof, and some of the extension sections.
We also sheeted over the garage door openings for now, so that the wind doesnāt take the new roof section for a rideā¦
Itās starting to look like a garage now.
Wow, that looks like it will be a nice garage when itās all done. You are smart for running the water to it. Not only is it handy for washing cars/parts,hands, but itās also nice for when you burn yourself, lol. What size is it?
Thanks dude, its 24x24 with a 10ā ceiling. Like everything, Iām sure Iāll be wishing I went bigger as soon as I get settled away in it, haha.
oh man thats a gangster garage!
totally the greatest son build thread yet
Thatās a good size though, but you are right, you may run out of space quickly. Over time you will be able to organize everything and make the space work though.
that is an awesome garage im going to build something similar in the spring. can you give me a heads up on the costs?
damn! havent checked this thread in a while. took a while to get through all that. the garage looks pretty awesomeā¦ i cant beleive how much shit you have on the go all the timeā¦lol. i barely have time to work on my car, nevermind build a garage ectā¦
amazing progress!!
keep us posted on the hard work
awesome build just read the whole thing.
That garage is calling for a lift.
Thanks hossā¦Wait until I actually get into the buildā¦
The good thing about the 10ā ceiling is that I can build shelves all around (or part of the way), and they wonāt be in my way at allā¦theyāll be high enough at say 8ā or so.
Itās not cheap man.
Iām at about 10K right now, and I still have to wire it, pick some type of heat, and do the siding in the spring.
Thatās materials only, at contractor prices. Iām building it myself.
Typically if you get it built, itās about $1 build cost for every $1 in material according to the ol man.
Haha, I just work 9-5, spend the weekend days at the garage, the weekend nights partying, and the weeknights taking care of the books/researching this stuff. It definitely helps to have a VERY understanding GF.
Manā¦I kicked myself a couple of times for not thinking of that earlier.
There are a couple of lifts FS locally for about $1500 (still too expensive for this year, but it got me thinking).
Typically you need 12ā for a liftā¦which would be through my ceiling.
In the mean time, I could stagger it between 2 trusses and take half of my garage, but I donāt know if Iād really want that.
Princess Auto sells āportable liftsā for about 3K that only need 9āā¦way too expensive for me, but they store along the wall.
Basically you sink 8 threaded anchors into your floor (in the cement), and then wheel the 2 side posts of the lift over to these and bolt them down when you need them. Hook up the hydraulics and youāre good to go.
When youāre done, unbolt and store, they take up very little room.
But Iām not quite that ballerā¦yet haha
Photobucket SUCKS.
Does anyone know of a decent image hosting site, that allows mass uploads, and has decent bandwidthā¦lol
photobucket proā¦
lol
my buddy just brought one of these in from the states - cost him 1800 landed to a commercial address, just over 9ā total height, 9000lb
http://www.americanautomotiveequipment.com/2-Post-Lifts-p/tp9a.htm
solid build thread btw **edit his was the 7000lb one - the 9000lb would probably cost you 2000 landed
How does this site work?
I donāt see any link to create an account, is it just random anonymous uploads to the site?
I hit the browse link and got a bunch of open-a$$hole shotsā¦haha
haha, guess I didnāt specify free.
p.s. I have my doors installed, the walls sheeted in completely, and have the shingles finished. the garage is basically ready for wrenching/storage!!
I just need to get the permit/panel location on Wednesday/Thursday so that I can wire it up, then I can insulate and shell in the walls/ceiling.
Unfortunately, I canāt post any of the pics since my Photobucket account is fuxedā¦lol
