I doubt it if you’re bitching about $40/month for internet. Fios is expensive, especially without TV.

I’m at $112/month for their digital HD tv package, 1 cable card and 50/25 internet. It should be quite a bit more than that but I did the whole, “I need a deal or I’m going to have to switch to Time Warner” thing with their retention department.

The price isn’t the problem. The quality of service for the price is what im complaining about. Notice the difference. Me paying 40 dollars a month for 15 down is ridiculous when people are paying promo fios price of 40 a month and getting 50 down.

I pay $29.99 a month for 20 Meg internet with TimeWarner. That is it. I own my modem. Pay for nothing else and its perfect. No phone. No cable.

You’re still on a “promotional price”. You will pay like 60+/mo for that speed once they decide to end that.

Verizon made it a new thing that they require home phone service to do DSL. Basically to keep their numbers up and not have to do Dry Loops instead.

PM me your address I can run a check through the company I work through that resells DSL. We are still allowed to do Dry Loops so you would not need to have home phone service. They would run a line from the street/pole to the house to your phone box on the outside of the house. After that you are responsible for hooking it up further.

Also as a note basically all DSL is resold from Verizon, AT&T, Cogent, and a couple of other main providers. So, if you are in a Verizon area, no matter who you buy your DSL through, it is Verizon DSL.

Yeah i figured. I looked and Earthlink is 40/mo for 15 down. Not an upgrade and not cheaper from what I’m running now. Lets see what dekar comes up with.

I pay $10/mo for 35x5, I do feel for anyone that has to contact customer service, period, regardless of the company today. They are all terrible and give off that reading from a script feel. If you are on a 10/1 package and only getting 1.2mb, there is a problem that needs to be fixed.

Remember providers sell packages as 10 MegaBIT. When you download you are seeing MegaBYTE in the browser and stuff. 10/8 is right around that 1.2 mark if that is the case

Roger, but when it was referred to as “1.2mbps,” I was correct at saying 1.2mbps would be an issue that needs fixing. If I read 1.2MB/s, I wouldn’t bothered posting.

It is the same thing to most people. There is limited people who know that MB and Mb are two different things.
