“Former senior intelligence officials have created a detailed surveillance system more accurate than modern facial recognition technology — and have installed it across the US under the radar of most Americans.”
Wouldn’t surprise me. Can’t say it would really bother me either. The cameras are already there, and already being monitored by police agencies. If you can automate that monitoring so it can filter out the 99.999% of useless footage and help the guy staring at the screen just look at a few things that the computer flags I think that’s a worthwhile project.
doesn’t really sound any worse than the NSA data collection center they are building in utah… people seem to believe they record pretty much all significant activities on the internet and store them…that isn’t to say that they review everything since that would supposedly require a warrant, but if you ever do something suspicious that would allow them to get a warrant they can simply open up your file and see everything you have been up to for years and years…
the ACLU has also been pushing a case regarding license plate scanners trying to determine if they are aggregating the information to establish a mapping of where all registered vehicles are at various times…combined with red light cameras it really wouldn’t be that hard to track someone’s activities in a vehicle in a bigger city.
Treating everyone like a suspect and keeping surveillance everywhere
It’s the same shit with those plate readers on cop cars

Some really interesting debates going on right now about people who find bugs in Microsoft and other software apps selling them to the government and then the government not passing info on to Microsoft etc so they can use the bugs to attack other nations.
I listened to an interesting news story on NPR about this and the newest virus they found in Lebanese banks. How Kaspersky finds these and sends the info out, and specifically to the Russian government as he used to work for the KGB as a computer specialist.
Wild fires. Another excuse to fly drones over our own country. Apparently we have been hit by many terrorist attacks this year but SURPRISINGLY it seems to be kept out of the news.
