Tinted my tail lights, need brighter bulbs.. help?

Traded in the 335 for a silverado, decided to debadge it and clean up the rear a bit.

I tinted the tails

I love how it looks during the day, but the bulbs are dim at best. With the horrible storms we get during the summer, I dont want to risk really dim running lights.

Does anybody have any experience with a worthwhile bulb. (I only did 2-3 coats of nightshades on them and then 3 coats of clear, but they’re pretty dark)

Worst case scenario I’ll buy stock tails or I’ll put one of those LED strips between the tailgate and bumper.

Bottom line I dont want to buy junk thats not going to help and piss away 30 bucks on cheap bulbs. Especially if they dont look any brighter than stock

I had very dark tinted tails (6-8 coats) in the past. I ran led bulbs and had no issue with light output. http://www.superbrightleds.com is where I got mine.

what car? were they brighter than stock?

While I don’t agree with tinted tails, I do agree that LEDs are your best bet. I had my old car completely converted to LED and they were bright.

If you’re going to do LED, just do it right and change the flasher relay too so that you don’t get the hyper flash

Will all leds cause this problem? Don’tsome have resistors build in?

I’ve done about 4 sets of led blinkers before. Never had this problem.

Z34, a ton brighter than stock. As for the fast flicker I never had an issue with that either. However I have heard of this happening and it is as easy as a relay.

80 dollars in brake lights.

Annoying.
Who has a cheaper yet as good option.

Tinted tails, yuck.

The only time you would get problems with hyper flash is if you had weaker LEDs. Since an LED draws a really low amount of power (compared to regular bulbs) you end up getting the hyper flash since the circuits not load balanaced, but if you got a replacement LED bulb that had higher lumen output and consumed power closer to the stock bulb, you won’t have that issue.

I have never had any LED bulbs, so I can’t really comment, just wanted to provide some info on the hyper flash!

Trades in 335i… buys Silverado… rices it out.

I’m so confused.

Find a higher wattage bulb that fits?? I’m sure there are many out there. Don’t go too crazy. You don’t want to melt your tail lights.

Florida does funny things to men…

Like someone else mentioned be careful melting the tails someone did that to the camaro I had

I assume you have a 3047 bulb. If so, use this:

he bought a silverado, what do you expect? lol.

+1 for led lights.

Take tint off, no need for new bulbs. = Save some $ and make your truck look better.

Win win.

In his defense I saw the pic on the gram and the truck looks legit.
