Tire Question

So i have 16x7 rota grids and im looking for tires…whats the biggest tire i can fit in my da…im looking at 225-45-16 will these fit?:ohnoes

Do to the exact tire manufacturers website. Get complete dimensions of that tire and size (mostly all tire brands have this in a chart on there site) then measure (chart/diagrams are available places on line to do that as well.

I believe you can fit up to a 235 on 7" wide rim. Not sure what you can fit under the Teg itself tho.

Well currently im in iraq so i dont really have awhole lot of time to surf…but the tire is bfg t/a kdw

Well, there is a difference between shoehorning the absolute widest tire that will “fit” on a particular rim width by anyone who is willing to do it; Or base the widest tire per manufacturer’s spec.

If you choose to follow the manufacturer’s spec, the widest you will probably want to go is 225 for a 7"~8.5" rim width range to keep the tire carcass to perform within spec.

I think you’ll have to ask yourself what you want to follow and how you will be using those tires.

Ballooning a tire onto a rim will only help with straight line traction… for anything else it’ll suck dick at it.

225’s on a 7" rim is nothing, its not like we are talking a Hoosier. I have no idea if it will fit under your car but there is not issue with the wheel width.

225 is ok… but it’s pretty much the limit.

235 is pushing it. Definitely ballooned.

I run 225’s on 7.5" rims. I wouldn’t go 235 on my car.

365-95-15 should fit fine.

sean is ur car lowered at all? My teg rubbed with 205’s lol
but it was slammed. unless ur doing Mafdark style Fenders, 235’s wont fit

Well if your talking to me as sean lol than yes my car is lowered on tein ss-p’s…and i hopeing to run a 225 not a 235

yes i was talking to you. i think 225’s will rub too.

well than it looks like im going with a 205

Yeah, thats a good size. I have run it on an EG and EF hatches with out a problem. I actually went to a 195 width, just because I didnt like how the grooves in the road would pull the car.

205/50 is a common size run by Honda guys, at least on 15" wheels. I had 205/50/15’s on my Rota Grids and now have 205/50/15’s on my K1’s, but I think for next season I’m going to run 225’s just because I think it will help with traction a little.

285/35/18s here… They pull in W-grooves hard!

225/45s should fit a 7" rim fine but you may have to increase your ride height slightly so they wont rub.
You could always put a larger tire up front then in back for straight line traction. I did this on my GTP years ago and it worked great. It didnt handle anyway so it was not a concern and it didnt make a noticeable difference. I know a lot of FWD cars have more room in the front wheel wells than the rear… Just another option.

Its only 10mm on each side of the tire so it shouldnt be a huge difference.

run 205/46R16 Sean. Thats the size I ran on My interga when i had my Rota Boost’s.

those wont hit your fenders or wheel wells

^ thats wat i ran on m 16’s

ive seen 225/45/16’s on a slight drop (1.75f/1.25r) with no rubbing issues

thanks for the help guys
