tire question

i have 9.5 inch wide rims that i watn to run on my car 98 240sx how big of tires can i go with out rubbin in the fron and back.
i was think of 275/45/17 only because i can get a pair really cheap right now. thank you
mikey

what offset are those wheels? it’ll be pretty hard to run those without rubbing, i’d have to say that 275/45 will rub, im not 100% though. you’d probably be better off with 265/40/17 or if you want 275’s go with a 35 or 40 series.

its a crazy off set lol i think its liek +15 or more they came off a r34 gtr wide body lol.

wow…well ur definatly going to have roll and probably pull ur fenders with that size wheel… what the stock tire size on s14’s?

275 is way too big. you can also stretch tires to a certain point for better handling.

lol stock size is 205/55/16

i ran 235/45/17 and all i had t odo was rais the car up. damn it why are tires so expensive

a good setup would be 225/40/17 or 235/40/17

go with the 40 profile, the steering response would be a lot better and plus you won’t rub.

most 225 performance tires can be fitted on 7.5"-9" rims. so 9.5 would add a little stretch which would be good.

if it was a 10" tire that would be on the limit imo.

i think he wants wider tires, in which case i would go with 245/40/17 all around so you can rotate them and you should be clear of rubbing. i definatly wouldnt go anything more than a 265/40/17 for sure.

a 225 on a 9.5 is quite a stretch, theres no need for that when he knows he can run 235’s on it for sure.

here’s a picture of 225 on a 9.5" wide rim 12+ offset

so what ever i do i should stay with a 40 profile?

yea a 40 profile will keep you closest to stock dimentions.
