wheel offsets

hey guys what are some good offsets for a 240sx

my advans have 35+ but i was wondering if a 42+ would be ok

sunken battle shippssss…!!! :E

DON’T DO IT!! YOUR MOTHER WILL EVEN HATE IT

how wide of a wheel are you looking for?

42+ offset is 18x7.5

35+ is 17x7

EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW :anal

if we switch around some numbers… 17x8.5 +24…now that’s a lot better:lol:

Mmmmmm

17x9 +20’s to +25’s work
17x10 +25-+35 work

if you are lookin to fit under stock fenders…dont fit them like honda owners do!

8j +32, +38 9-j +25, -20… or 8.5j 9.5j… strech tires to fit in wheel well, if rims stick out!

17X 8.5+30
17X10+18

?

i have some pics of 17X9 +35 and 17X9 +20, and the +35 fits fine, but i hear there’s coilover clearance issues. people running coilovers put in a 10mm spacer in the back.

now on the other hand, running a 17X9 +20 will run you into some rubbing of the fender. you either do a little pull, raise it a bit or add some camber. both are with 245/40/17 tires.

that would be the culprit. nothing some 215’s or 225’s couldn’ fix

+42 is big fail

0 offset ftw

that would be the culprit. nothing some 215’s or 225’s couldn’ fix
on a 17X9? noooo way. 255 is what’s supposed to be on there, and i’ve seen 235 on a 9J and it looks like :butthead:

Why does everyone buy such a wide rim they stick a honda tire on it???

but minimun tire sizes
10-255
9-235
8-225.

But yea 35 offset on wide rims are ok but you really want less than 30

im pretty sure jack was running my rims with coilovers on his car before i bought them, and they are 9s +35 in the back with a 255 and he didnt have problems…

from son240sx

yeah but they wont fit on the front unless you run at least a 10mm spacer, thats what i ran front and rear. It made them +25

check page 4 i think, thats my old cardomain page.
edit: i guess my post earlier was partly incorrect. rears fit but fronts do not.

that would be the culprit. nothing some 215’s or 225’s couldn’ fix
get with the JDM program son! a 215 on a 9j rim is a good fit 225 or 235max…but 255 is just thorwing your money away… :nay:

Some people like the traction program. More power, more tire, more traction. There is other purposes for an S13 than drifting.

i’m sure saving $10-15/tire will help you in the long run if you’re drifting alot.

i’d rather have the grip and a tire that doesn’t look silly being super stretched on a rim like that.

Preach brotha preach!!!

It all depends on what you want from your car. I read a write-up somewhere about how the handling dynamics change when using wide wheels and narrow tires vs. narrow wheels and wider tires. I don’t remember what it all said ( so someone find it! ), but as I remember, the general idea was that tires with some stretch will give better response and quicker turn in, but obviously have less overall grip.
