295 BFG Drag radial will work on a 9.5" wide rim. You’ll eliminate those traction problems really quick :D.
OT: I seen your car tuesday coming towards river road while i was in the cobra with mike mcginnis making my :snky: pulls to check the tune. Looked like your wife was driving though :P. anyway it looked good!!

Thanks! well, we all gotta remember, it IS the wifes car that i just have fun in from time to time since i dont have a toy of my own yet. Sadly, shes a bit better of a driver lol.
BFG G-Force T/A street tires are also very good and quite a few people have been very happy with the traction they provide.
The compound on Kumho 712’s is way to hard for drag racing traction. They are good for carving turns however.
Each tire you look at will have a manufacturers specification sheet.
You look up the exact tire size you are considering and it will tell you what rim width RANGE is recommended. (for best performance and safety)
If you go to bfgoodrich.com you can see whats the biggest tire they recommend for a 9.5" rim.
If you drive your car every day (in the rain) I would think twice about Drag Radials.

Thanks for the info! The car almost never sees rain so thats not really a concern for me now.

with all kidding aside…i learned to drive a stick in this very car…and she tought ME !! sad i know, but she drove stick all her life…i never did lol.
and yes, i will swing that over on saturday sometime…
Pick the miata net one. You can play with all sorts of different sizes, and you can find a setup that won’t overly compromise your speedo. what I would do is find as much tire as you can that is still relatatively close to your overal wheel/tire diameter that you are currently running (or stock combo). If you have suspension parts that hang over the tire (or fender issues), staying as close to stock diameter will be important unless you plan on rolling fenders.
Another good thing to do would be to check out Tire Rack or the manufactuer’s websites. Even though tires may have the same size, they mare sometimes slightly larger or smaller depending on the manufacturer. Most maunfacturers will list suggested rim width sizes for each size of tire they carry. Use that as your guideline so that you pick the right size tire for your wheels.
Talk to some of the other guys with your car like Bladez, that are running big wheels/tires, they may have some proven setups already.
The newer MT DR tread pattern is in 17-18" sizes. They should be out soon, (month or 2- this summer) I know some are getting tested right now. Thats gona be the best tracion 17-18 tire out.
New Era is setup as a tire wholesaler, We just got some 17 and 18 BFG Drs witch are currently the best tracion DRs in the larger 17"+ sizes, untill the MT are out.
i ran the bfg drag radials on my car for a while liked them a lot didnt take very much of a burn out to get them to stick. now i have the bfg street tires and i like them not as sticky of course but should last a lot longer
