To project or not top project

Looking for advice.

Im been looking for something to toy with for a little while now…my brother has been tossing around the idea too.

Well we found a 94 Del sol local that has seen better days.

Carfax says it was from VA and came here in 2008
It was involved in a series of 3 accidents. 2 in VA and 1 up here.

The last one in 2008 the airbags went and hasnt been on the road since.

From the last accident one of the wheels was pushed in so that could be a major fix

The car has 97k on it but doesnt start

Needs a fender, front bumper and a little rust on the skirts and rear quarter.

Its a manual

Color is dark green

ASKING PRICE
$400

Im thinking…why not. Its $200 each and if its more of a mess then we think maybe we could part it out.

I could always offer him less…

What do you guys think?
Pick this up?
Put money in the S2000?
Wait for a 92-95 civic hatch to come along?

HIT ME

I had a slightly bad experience going halvzies on a project car…so I vote no

My brother wants the del sol more then I want a del sol, but he doesnt have the cash for the car and parts etc. (college kid with book expenses etc)
So in the mean time it would be “ours” but eventually he would buy the other half from me. Going halfies im not worried about. Plus id be able to work on it (which I want to) AND I would be able to prevent him from ricing it out. It would be a nice clean Del sol

Its the del sol and the history im more worried about

So you want us to tell you what kind of condition it’s in or something? Maybe you should have the car looked at by a body expert to determine if frame damage exists (which it most likely does). I’d be willing to be bet you can make a killing on parting the thing out though.

97k, 3 accidents, not running, and has rust…Not worth it. Even if it was free.

x2 Probably not even worth it to part out. I still have a shed full of parts that I couldn’t give away from my last sol partout.

keep in mind used airbags are not acceptible for nys salvage inspection.

Ehhh… Sounds like a bad idea IMO.

Sounds like you’d end up paying someone another $400 to come get a pile of crap out of your garage.

Going halvzies wouldnt bother me, i mean it’s your brother its not like he wont pay you back its family. But on the other hand this car just sounds like a bad idea, to much is wrong. Let your brother save more and go in on a more reliable project car.

hahahahah youre funny! im going to assume you dont have a brother

buy my civic, its already b18 swapped and ready for boost (act clutch and arp hardware) $1900 gets you a very solid start

IS IT A HATCH BACK?
lol no my brother and I are tight. i know he would pay up…besides im stronger. Shorter…but stronger

its a coupe, http://www.nyspeed.com/showthread.php?160250-95-Civic-DX-B18

water pump is being replaced tomorrow

Ha, i was thinking the same thing. Family always manages to fuck you first and fuck you the hardest. Getting $10 back from a family member is like getting blood from a stone.

ORRR as easy as getting blood with a stone…

sry man
not looking for a coupe. sold mine a little while ago

Pass…$400 is not enough money to potentially ruin a friendship over…or even get involved in a deal with a stranger on here…too little reward…

very true, once you start getting blood WITH a stone, getting your money gets a fuck of a lot easier. But then yoy gotta hear about it for the next 8 christmas dinners

“you know John, we wouldn’t have to feed Bobby his dinner with a straw if you had just forgotten about that $10”

Pass

This is how my last project car ended up

Project cars suck!!! Working on cars sucks, buy the car you want already done and turn a key rather then wrenches
