when i got mine done it didnt hurt at all but it swelled up pretty bad! i was eating the same day but it hurt. you also have to take into account how big your tongue is. mines kinda small so they had to angle the piercing. after i got the piercing barbell out and a smaller one in my speech was fine but very so often youll trip over a few words when your talking fast! alot of people wont know you have it unless your talkin to them up close or the light hits the barbell at the right angle. i took this girl out a few nights ago and she had no idea i had my tongue pirced until i kissed her.
it took my tongue about a month for all the swelling to go down and get to the point that i could change the barbell. if you play with it alot then dont get the acrylic barbells they crack super easy.
the worst part of the piercing was when i had to stick my tongue back out of my mouth right after i got it pierced so he could tighten the balls on the barbell! it hurt like hell but i think thats cause my tongue was short.
overall i like and if it ever gets old i can just take it out so i say go for it!

over the counter pain killers like asprin and such will be your best friends for a week or so!
you shouldnt rinse every half hour youll actually cause the healing process to take longer! mine didnt get infected at all and my breath was never bad plus i drank beer the the day i got mine pierced and the day after. ive heard the the yeast in beer can cause a yeast infection but i didnt get one :dunno:
my buddy pierces at “IN YOUR SKIN TATTOO and PIERCING” and he told me that listerine is a bad choice of mouth wash when i got mine done. he said to get the generic brand. theres something thats not good for the piercing in listerine.
everything you hear is always different and i have never seen someone have the same effects…
when i took mine out it was because i was working for the Robotic company and i needed to be more professional as were had venture capitalists coming and what not.
if you want to do something i would say do a piercing instead of a tattoo… at least with a piercing you can take it out, i know my gf hates her tattoo now and its small and not everyonce can even see it
they sell a barbell with a flat top that is flesh colored that you can put in and make the piercing almost invisible. i havent bought it yet as i havent had to interview or be totally professional yet.
but i agree get piercings because you can always take them out. tattoos are forever.
i just said professional because it’s written in my handbook NO PIERCINGS… of coarse that’s just my company… but i’m sure if you get a ‘big business’ job, you won’t be allowed (or simply won’t because it’s not logical)…
either way, do what you want… my company handbook also says i have to have a firm crease in my pants from the start of the work day to the end… :rolleyes:
Hey girlie!!! I had my tongue done and my nipples…took them all out after a while. Nipples never healed and couldnt be touched OUCH, and my tongue I had for over a year and just decided one day to take it out. It doesnt hurt that bad, it swells up at night the 1st couple of night then its all god after that. You can handle it, if I can anyone can. Now the nipples on the other hand, I wouldnt wish them getting peirced on my worst enemy! OUCH! tey never heal and they get yucky, and cant be touched…its just all around bad.
I do have 3 tattooes though, and I love them, they fit me well. I dont think I would get anymore than these, maybe my zodiac sign, or the chinese symbol for twin sisters, thats it. I would never get a name tattoo’s on me. I knew a girl who had their name tattoo’d on her lower back, and guys picked on her, said " did ya do that so they know what name to yell?" ha! Bad idea! LOL
