Tony Stewart Kills Kevin Ward (Canandaigua Motorsports Park)

“Numerous reports have racer Kevin Ward, Jr. killed in altercation with Tony Stewart at Canandaigua Motorsports Park in New York that ended with Stewart running over the driver. Ward, Jr. was “dead on arrival” at a local hospital according to the local sheriff.”

The video is posted in the link somewhere, I believe.

It looks like Stewart went to spray dirt and Ward was too close. There’s going to be a lot of debate on this.

He shouldn’t have gotten out of his car but he definitely did what ever he did on purpose , and ended up hitting ward.
What a dirtbag

I’m not really sure what Ward was planning to do. He walked right out toward the middle of the track with zero regard to the other people racing.

This is my thought.

WATKINS GLEN, NY - NASCAR Sprint Cup star Tony Stewart was involved in a crash late Saturday night at Canandaigua Motorsports Park near Rochester, N.Y., that resulted in the death of a 20 year old dirt track racer.

According to a report from the Ontario County Sheriff’s office, Stewart and the other driver, identified as Kevin Ward Jr., collided during a Empire Super Sprints race at the half mike dirt oval.

An amateur video showed Ward getting out of his wrecked car and walking down the dimly lit track to confront Stewart.

Stewart came around the track and struck the other driver

wat?

Both at fault. It’s just racing and not worth dying for. Come on guys.

merged threads.

I agree based on what I saw in the video, definitely hear him goose the throttle.

Yellow flag was out, “racing” was stopped, I’m sure Tony has gotten out of his car plenty of times in the same situation to throw his helmet, flip the bird, beat his chest, etc.

Pay close attention to Tony Stewart’s throttle control in the video…

Wow

ESPN NASCAR Watins Glen preshow starts at noon, race coverage starts at 1 pm.

i watched it with the sound down… don’t really want to watch it with the volume up to see Tony kill a dude…

despitewhat tony might have done that other driver was clearly extremely negligent and at least 80% to blame.

Same here

A lot of reports are saying that he throttled it to swerve to avoid him at the last second. Combine lighting, bad visibility and a young driver running at his cart, I highly doubt that Stewart hit him intentionally.

Just because you can hear the throttle, doesn’t mean it was because he goosed it to hit him. The steering on these carts are totally different than a normal car, as well as the throttle set up.

Plain and simple, this kid should have stayed in his cart. That is the rule and he broke it. It’s sad, but it’s the truth and it cost him his life.

I’ve been trying to explain this exact fact to people who don’t know about these cars, but it is falling on deaf ears. Anybody who honestly believes this was an intentional hit is a bit skewed.

even if he did hit him intentionally it’s still the other guys fault.

if you run on to the highway and I kill you… sorry dude… fuck you.

Everyone here has drifted a car, in a long drifting turn how to you steer around an object? Gas it and turn harder not many other options.

He probably didn’t have to come so close to the guys car on the turn.

This.

Come on nyspeed, you’re smart enough to know that throttle steers a car being driven with little to no traction.

as much as I wanted to see a NASCAR driver get into some NFL style trouble, this is pretty clear; it’s not Stewart’s fault.

WTF is with international media saying that this happened in Canandaigua “20 minutes north of Syracuse” or at Watkins Glenn?
