So are we now going to view all “racing” deaths or injuries in a litigious nature? Are there going to be criminal and civil trials? Now we need to prove negligence or fault? Let’s just lawyer all racing out of existence.
Are you kidding? He won’t go to prison, this was a preventable accident with more fault on the victim than on Tony. Even if Stewart did it on purpose there’s enough reasonable doubt to give him a not guilty verdict.

True. As much I believe Stewart is partially responsible for driving recklessly I doubt anything will happen besides maybe losing a few sponsorships.

Yeah… because no one else had a guy running in front of them other than the car before Stewart and Stewart himself. Half of the people that passed him, ward was yet to get out of the car.
The car in front of Tony had to swerve as well. Ward’s wrecked car was taking up half the turn, and he walked into the only area where other racers had to drive through.
Its pretty unbelievable that any of you would think that Tony tried to hit him intentionally. Terrible situation but also clearly not his fault.
Did anyone else discuss the fact that Tony didn’t get into him in the first place to cause the Crash? He ran him high coming out of the corner, which is a normal block pass on a dirt track and Kevin didn’t lift and drove it into the wall. The whole situation is crazy if you ask me.

Oh right. I was just stating that Wards fathers comment was kind of a poor statement if you ask me. He said everyone else saw him. Well have the cars racing passed him while he was still in his crashed car. Only a handful passed him when he got out, only 2 really passed him when he went lower in the track. Of course everyone saw him but stewart and possibly the guy in front (who said he saw him clear as day in his own statement but was the lead car in front of stewart and had nothing blocking his sight like another car in front of him.)

I don’t think anyone really thinks Tony Stewart hit the guy on purpose, or was trying to kill him.

Didn’t see it corrected, but this didn’t happen at Watkins Glen, this happened at Canandaigua Motorsports Park.
My big question is what would happen if the roles were reversed? What if it was Ward who ran Stewart over and killed him? Would we see Ward be charged because Stewart is a Cup driver?
I think people would ask for Wards head if it went down like that. And there would be a much greater push from the public for charges.
However, it is not how it happened, so we will never know. Stewart is really the only one who knows what was going on in Stewart’s mind and inside Stewart’s car. Personally I hate Tony Stewart and always have. But that doesn’t mean I think he should go to jail. We will definitely see a lawsuit from Ward’s family though.
