In no particular order:
honorable mention to Hunt for the Red October and Jarhead.
In no order:
-Full Metal Jacket
-Jarhead
-Platoon
-Saving Private Ryan
-Enemy at The Gates
-Good Morning Vietnam
yeah i put 6 movies in there, so what? big whoop, wanna fightaboutit?
In my defense, i’ve never seen apocalypse now, thin red line, probably a few others that should be on the list, but that’s how i see it at 6:15 a.m. before i go to bed. there are just so many good war movies. i need to sleep.
-The War (PBS documentary), 15hrs long, it was justed released this year, almost all new footage some in color. I haven’t got to watch it all, apparently it is suppose have “the angle” that no other documentary had and not just a “re-edit”.
-Red Dawn (does it have to be a real war?)
-Born on the 4th of July
-Full Metal
-G.I. Jane (best for last, suck my dick)

Dirty dozen! good one!
Man some of the suggestions in this thread were horrid… I feel as though many of you just tried thinking of the first war movie that could come to your head, and whatever that was got included in your lists.
Enemy at the Gates?
Basic?
Jarhead?
Ugh.
Saving Private Ryan
We Were Soldiers
Platoon

No, because it was a mini-series not a movie.
It was good though
“The War” is also not a movie, it’s a documentary (one of the better ones), and also worth watching
enemy at the gates was a good movie… just because it was based on snipers doesn’t make it horrid
