I broke mine when installing my coilovers, there’s still a tiny bit left so I could screw the nut on half a turn, but if I ever get a tower brace it won’t be enough so I wanna change it, but I don’t know where to get a stud like that? Would a stud from a stock top plate work? They are Kei Office coilovers. Thx.
see if you can weld a new stud on. Honestly though, front strut bars don’t really do much in terms of improving suspension performance but if you were to get one, there’s a variety of them that bolts up to all 3 studs, so 1 broken stud won’t really affect it
Are you joking?
-
top plates are usually aluminum, so there will be no welding of a steel stud going on there.

A strut bar will make a difference if you set it up properly.

if there are 3 studs bolting the shock to your car, you need to use all 3… using only 2 would not be very smart… may not be the worst thing in the world, but I would never do it. If you don’t have a full nut of thread contact, it is not going to be safe, strut bar or not.
Remove the broken stud, take it to a nut and bolt shop, or someone who carries that stuff (UAP etc) and can identify it, and pick up a new one. You might aswell get a couple just incase you break another one…
Alright, cool, getting a strut bar isn’t anywhere in my near future, but in case I get one and for general looks and safety, I wanna replace the stud, I’ll go to UAP or something along those lines and find one, thanks.
go and get it fixed now, dont leave things half ass, theyr brand new coil overs to you, twist that stud out and go to a metal supplier and order one
I don’t know what coils you are running (You didn’t say or I can’t read) but all the ones that I have seen are pressed in. So just hammer the old one out with a punch or just a hammer depending how much if left of it. Then hammer a new one in from your OLD top mounts on the OE suspension. It should be the same bolt.
I have Kei Office coils, sorry, I should of said that, and I can use the bearing press we have at work, would the stock stud fit?
