Ok so I have the opportunity to pick up 2 of my favorite, but can only get 1. I’m so Torn between:

A 1992 Eagle Talon AWD with 5spd and between 400-500 hp. Red in Color

or

A 2003 Dodge Neon Srt-4 with stage 1 injectors and stage 2 WG actuator. Also Red in Color

Always wanted both of these cars, Both cars are outstanding condition. I’m not to worried about the price on the car, or the cost of insurance. I’m just kinda looking for people that own either car and just want chime in, and just had 2 cents about their experience with the car, and if they regret buying it or what not.

First off, depends on who has modded the Talon. What are you doing with this car purchase, fun, DD, both?

Talon have a rebuilt engine or race engine? Who built/maintained it? How many miles are on the engine? What other mods does it have? Is there a dyno sheet for it?

First impression is to buy the Neon. I’d rather own a 5 year old car compared to a 16 year old car.

Second thought. DSM w/400whp + massive miles on the chassis = more likely to boom.

Third thought, red sucks.

I’d rather work on a DSM all day long than be seen driving a neon.

whats the price difference? I know you’re not worried about it in dollars, but think about it in crankwalk occurences.
If money wasnt an object you’d just buy both

the 400 to 500 whp sounds sketchy to me…

how do you know it makes that much? and how come such a huge range? 100 hp difference is pretty significant…doesn’t sound legit to me…did somebody just tell you it makes around that much?

The Srt-4 will be a DD and fun here and there, the Talon will be a nightly outings / weekend warrior. Talon has a motor from FFWD and fully built head with about 25k and running a 3065. The Srt-4 gets up and goes kinda like what I want, but the Talon has that power if a cobra decides to pull up next to me.

price is about 3 grand different

its tuned at about 430hp, but has power to go to 500

Not an SRT-4 fan at all, and an AWD Talon sounds much more fun.

plus, do you have a dd on top of this? if yes, get the talon. if you plan on dd’ing either of these cars get the neon.

if i were in your shoes i would get the talon, then pick up a rusty civic somewhere, neons are pretty gay

I have a 99 Auto Sunfire but its falling apart. so i was looking for something newer to drive, I mean I can repair the sunfire so its drivable its got under 100k on it. I mean ill drive the Srt-4 as a DD and the Talon more of a weekend warrior but maybe drive the talon more then sunfire at times

Are you sure about the power output. Anyone can slap on a 3065 without doing the proper supported mods. What kind of engine management are we talking here? SAFC or DSMLink or even an EMS?

Link and this car has all the supporting mods, had 1000cc injectors, 255intank walbros, afpr, built motors 272, Smim, fmic, 50mm tial bov

Rust-free chassis? If so, I’d totally go for the DSM.

It’d be MUCH more fun to drive than the SRT-4.

AWD > FWD

the Dsm is problly the cleanest chassis i’ve seen in a LONG time

I’d get a dyno report on the DSM, and if it makes that power, go with that route.

I LOATHE the interiors of Neons, and even an SRT-4, I could never allow myself to own.
