Anyone with a high-stall tq.conv. willing to give me a ride in their car anytime soon? I’m looking at buying a 2800-3000 stall converter off of a guy, but i want to make sure that i like the whole idea… i’ve never been in an auto w/ tq.conv. and i dont want to get something and have it installed, then not like it
a 3k is nice. i would but car isnt running. tell jay to swap in my tranny/stall in his fox and drive you around lol. i currenty have a 3200 in the stang
you’ll fall in love with your car all over again. i put a 3400 in my truck, wooohhooooo.
A 3000 stall is not all that bad for driving on the street. When i drove on the street w/a 454 i had a convetor that would stall around 5000rpm. But then i again i didn’t drive it that much. The convertor in my car now stalls at 5700
3000 not bad for street like stated before. a 4k is crazy high for street driving even though silver had that in his before and now is in steves. you’ll be happy with a 3k stall if you drive it a bit. but not way way way too much. i say get it(or get a manual)
I have a 2800 and don’t really notice much difference as far as drivability. I’d give you a ride too but, well… maybe late spring.
Did you notice a real nice performance gain??
And too, i know converters are supposed to giveyou nice performance from a stop, but what about if you’re goin down the highway at 50 or 60 and punch it down, are the gains still at “potent”?
And yes, my car is my daily driver… so its nice to hear i won’t notice a huge change on the street…
I’d love a manual… but… manual tranny plus cost to swap = well… way way more than i can spend… this converter is on my limits
If you come this way and its not raining(or snowing) I can take you for a spin in my TA with a 3600 Stall and 3.73 gears. I will have to put my Nittos on or you will see how the combo just destroys street tires.
PM if you know you are coming to the Monroeville or New Kensington area.
Ah man, i really appreciate it, i’ll see what i can do… i have a really tight schedule w/ school and all
i lowered my times by half a second at the track. when you go up on convertor stall, the case gets smaller. so the motors rev quicker too
well liek i said… is it still a noticeable performance gain goin down the road…
I ask b/c i know its going to cause problems for me as far as getting grip… which i’m willing to take… but i’m hoping it makes a nice leap forward if i punch it going 30 or 40 down the road too.
oh ok… you added that last part in afterward… sounds alright to me…
not a huge driveability change… good performance gains… cheap price… sounding better and better
no one else? weather is looking crappy so i don’t blame onyx for not wantin to take his car out…
what about gas mileage? is it gonna die?
yes
yes what?
you asked gas mileage, i said yes
Shit… that may be the mind changing factor…
it will change cause you will be puttin the hammer down every two seconds.
if your retaining the lockup, i doun’t think it will be a drastic change. i didn’t notice a change in my truck
