Tranny and Diff Oil

It is time to change my tranny and diff oil. i have a 91 240sx and was wondering what kind of oil would be the best. i was looking at redline but i’m confused over all of their oils. i want a good strong oil for my diff. for my tranny i want an oil that will still make it shift nice when cold and be good in the summer too. i was lookin at the Lightweight shockproof for my diff and the MTL or Super Lightweight for my tranny. does anyone have any experience with this??

thanx alot

Go with a synthetic in your tranny for sure, it is like night and day. Im gonna be throwing some synthetic in my diff also once i get some time.

MT-90 in the tranny and 75W90 in the diff. i’m putting it in friday night (i’m grounded so yea) and i will post a review of it

grounded…wow thats been a while

well i’m only 17 and its only till friday and i have exams so its really no big deal. i can’t find the filler plug on the diff tho. anyone know where it is located?

If you have LSD it is perpendicular to the drain plug, you’ll see when it is in the air, if no lsd it will be straight back. Remember always crack free fill plugs before drain plugs.

finally finished the oil changes. took my a while on the tranny because the only way to get it off was to strip the plug then drill a bolt hole into it and screw it out with a drill. i even tryed my buddies air rachet that goes to 100 ft lbs and it did not even get it off. the diff fluid is amazing and the tranny in now silky smooth. definalt recomend 75-90 and MT-90 in the tranny for anyone doing the changes.

ps the VSLD differential takes about 2 jugs and the tranny only takes 2.2 ish

Just did the same change to, man that shit stinks! My garage reeks of oil. I thought it was the used oil but the new stuff stinks almost equally as bad. Sure am glad I took some advice and wore rubber gloves!

I hate gear oil so much, the smell of it makes me gag. :frowning:

damn i had 5 showers to take the smell off. FIVE times my water heater had to reheat all the water. oh well.
does anybody want a used siphon pump to pump the fluid in. 5 dollars takes it. i paid 29.99 at CT for it. the only down side is that it reeks of gear oil
