trans filter

Need a trans filter changed on an 04 grand am with 3.4

Sluggish as all hell when it shifts to 3rd. Its like hitting the brakes or downshifting. Its sealed I can’t check fluid… But I guess low fluid causes this. Want it fixed asap. Who can do it? Preferably after 4 or 5… Today is fine even

Did it myself today.
Shame nobody could do it, cheektowaga sears told me doing a trans filter on a car with 86k will ruin the trans, and then I went to eastern hills, and they said the same thing.

I almost wish one of them did it, because when I opened my hood something stunk pretty awful, I figured it was something in my parents garage…
Then i go to open the fill cap, and find a foot long charred rat sitting on the back of the engine. so i used a tig rod as a hook to pull him out… and he was all just skin/fur… all his organs and shit are still burned to my exhaust manifold… Smells horrid everytime I come to a stop, when driving, have the fans on, or you walk by it. haha :stuck_out_tongue:

Everyone appears to agree that changing the fluid on a higher mile auto will make it explode in short order.

I have always changed mine every 10K, but it has a drain bolt, and no internal filter, so its even easier than a oil change.

Its because tranny fluid has detergents in it and after a while they break down so deposits can build up in the valve body or wherever. so when fresh fluid is put in it washes away the build up possibly causing clogged ports/high pressure which could break a band or just ruin the tranny.

Typically changing fluid is just a preventative measure, once you can actually notice something bod going on new fluid probably wont fix anything.
