Traveling to Cali for 2 weeks for work :Los Alamitos, South El Monte, & Bell, CA

well when i rented from harley it was $100/day for a 48 sportster with ins (which is what i ended up renting) and it was about $160 for a dyna.

that being said i would go with the Ducati vs the GSXR

i would pack a good leather jacket. the coast gets deceivingly cold…or maybe ive become a bitch about cold weather.

oh and a good camera or gopro

here is my personal page from my tumblr which is loaded with bike trip pics lol

ya i plan to bring my go pro and my spare batteries for it:tup:

the site says they rent all the gear you could think of for really cheap actually

It may be tough to enjoy any scenic rides in upstate ny after this…im really getting excited about it

best part is if i really enjoy it i can rent for another day or possibly more

ya California scenery will spoil you.

if you have time i would hit the sequoias on the way home since Yosemite is a bit out of the way…

Weather permitting and depending how the first day goes i may rent it for two days and just ride around to where ever i want

im going with a chick from work and the rental car is in her name since im only 23 so if i have a bike out for two days i can go where ever the hell i want and take as much in as i can in that time

this thread gives me one of those moments where i’m uber jealous that i can’t do this because of my kids but then not jealous because i would only want to do this with my kids… in any event, this sounds like an awesome trip and i look forward to seeing pics and reviews of any hipster food consumed.

its sad because i feel the same way…but about my 1.5 year old black lab who would love it on the beaches and parks

go pro will be out the entire trip, 3 batteries packed, may grab a second memory card just to be safe :tspry:

cant promise to much hipster food, I’m not much of a food guy

Rent the DUC over the Gixxer, unless you plan on packing your flip flops and affliction cutoff.

ha ya i feel the ducati riding position will also be much easier on me if i plan to ride the entire day as well

the flipflops i wouldn’t mind packing that day, affliction cutoff not so much

:tup::tup:

you can prob find a cheap hotel if you come back down the 101 or even cut over to the 5.

we tried to camp in big sur and since we didnt book ahead of time all sites were filled. seriously every last fucking camp site. it was irritating.

Hmmmm. I’ll try to get in touch if we have time but right now the plan is fly in Saturday, get prepared, and then we’re hitting the road before sunrise on Sunday morning.

I’ve been in San Diego from the 21st til the day after Labor Day. I’m not sitting through another Buffalo winter. Making moves to get out here in the fall. The departing flight from here gets harder and harder to get on every time.

why isnt SoCalspeed.com a thing yet?

Pics of chick co-worker…jus’ sayin’

so i got back last week…i suppose i should update this when i get a chance

I ended up going Irvine cars and coffee which was incredible

While i was there i also talked to a few people and found out there was a “super car Sunday” which i went to the next morning…

(edit: that weeks super car sunday theme was Ford GT’s, there was about 25 i think when i left there Sunday at around 9am)

I’m no photographer and all i had was my go pro which keep in mind does not have a screen to view pictures on

I uploaded them and i havent even had a chance to really look through them all but if anyone’s bored at work a few came out cool

Also…I did rent a Ducati Hyperstrada for 24hrs on saturday and put about 260 miles on it (by far the highlight of the trip for me)

I have 3hrs of go pro footage riding up through the hills off pacific coast highway…best riding experience I’ve ever had (granted I’m only 23 and have been riding for 1.5years) I still need to edit that down into something worth watching

glad you had a good time
