She got a 1590 on the SATs, got into MIT but she declined because of the cost. Instead she graduated UB with dual science major with a 3.95 GPA, UB gave her free tuition + $30k/yr spending expense just to attend…she’s going to University at North Carolina for grad school to get PHD in public health now.
Thats offtopic though and this thread wasn’t to brag about my awesomely sexy girlfriend lol.
Decided on getting her a Silverado.
Joe: good point…I’ll have to get collission on the bike then in case she messed it up on the trip there.
double j: Girls cant drive. We know this come on =p
Just a thought, but if you are moving down south, you might want to look at getting a used southern vehicle. Anything that was used during the winter up here is gonna be craptastic with the salt eating up everything.
Also, if you are going to be towing regularly, diesel might be a better idea as well. Course maybe it doesn’t matter since you said the trailer is only 5k lbs, it sounds like it is only a single horse trailer.
My truck with the towing package is rated at 6k lbs for towing capacity, but I don’t think I would want to regularly tow that near my max. Definitely full sized truck, which everyone has been recommending already.
She’ll be towing the trailer+horse maybe 1-2x a month…probably less.
She wants a 2 horse trailer for when she eventually has a 2nd horse, and she doesnt want her horse all cramped up in a 1 horse trailer, also the extra room for hay etc would be nice she says.
Trailers look like 2500-3300 lbs empty
Horse is like 1000 lbs
Extra materials like hay and such…maybe 300 lbs
Total 3800-4800 lbs about that need towed.
Buying down in NC would definitely be optimal because less salt…however how would the horse get from Buffalo to NC then? She’d have to go to NC to buy it, drive back to Buffalo to pickup the horse, then back to NC…seems like a lot of extra/wasted driving/gas.
It is a bit more of an initial hassle, but not having salt eating a vehicle from the inside out, not to mention all the electrical problems you will save yourself, it should be better in the long run.
Ultimately, it is your decision and I don’t really care what you do, but I like throwing my 2 cents out there for ya.
Sounds perfect! Thanks man, just hope theres a good Silverado for sale in NC +/- 5 days of the first drive to NC…or I gues could buy it on ebay and put a deposit down, but then run the risk of not inspecting before purchasing which is another can of problems.
With your lead time of several months you can start looking now and you might be able to find a pretty stellar deal.
Also, if a great deal pops up around town here, I wouldn’t immediately dismiss it. Just keep your eyes open for trucks over the next few months and you should be able to find something.
1 problem with this plan she’s come up with…she needs time to practice driving a truck+trailer, and time to get the horse used to being in the trailer =[
My car is a manual, with no collision insurance…so double no
Just suggested we stay in Buff a few days while she gets used to truck+trailer after driving it back from NC, or I drive truck+trailer back and she gets used to it when we arrive back in NC…waiting on reply.
Why the hell would he want to do that? Driving a truck and trailer with a stick is a pain in the dick. No point adding complication when it’s unnecessary. Not like she’s going to need a manual to powershift coming out of corners.
