Trusted shop to swap an SR or RB into a Datsun 620?

I have a friend that’s looking to drop a motor into his 620, he originally wanted to go the 2JZ route but I don’t know a single person versed in Toyotas that could handle that job. So I suggest the RB/SR swap which he seems more into anyways.

Is there any local shops that can pull off this swap without wasting his time and money? Or If you know a shop that can do the 2JZ swap that works too.

Any thoughts or suggestion feel free to share!

check out centerline motorsports.

Riworx

Tony at the shell gas station on kennady, he mainly only dose 2jz swaps and 1jzs
also dose some srs and has done rb26 into s14s he did mine and car runz great two years later

My only advice…go look at a few shops. Choose the guy with the cleanest shop. In my experience, there is a direct relationship between quality of work and cleanliness of the shop in almost 100% of cases.

Any vouches for these guys? I’ve heard of centerline before but never dealt with them.

I thought you were kidding at first now I think you’re serious lol you have any other contact with him? Number or something?

Sometimes true, but I’ve been into some shops that looks amazing but the guy is a total piece of shit. Then there’s places that are a total pig stye yet are flawless and do everything by the book and on time.

Multisync, Vinny’s just old and bitter these days. He blames younger guys for not doing things right but he’s just stereotyping shit. Prime example, Sasha Anis.

Blain i can vouch for Centerline. They do good work but time might be the only issue. They got a lot of projects going on know and there also doing datsun right know. There putting a s13 sr into datsun 510

Price is fairly good but you have to pay to play.

Riyad at Riworx can do anything.

Hes shop is SUPER organized. I dont even know how he fits half the shit in there.

Well, I promise you that I have definately been in more shops than you and have seen more of their work than you. While my statement is general…it holds true to 100% to the shops mentioned in this thread alone.

I’ve been in all of these shops, I’ve tuned cars for them, I’ve bought parts from them, I’ve used their services.

While I don’t want to bash anyone…go look in Tony’s shop and then go and talk to Riyad or Rene. If you can’t tell the difference…good luck to you.

(Not being preechy either here so no biggie…just my opinion)

I wasn’t doubting anyone what so ever, but I know a fair amount of shops that are spotless yet have fucked more people than I can count hell I’ve worked for shops like that…

Time is not an issue for him he just wants it done the way it should be, so John definitely take that into consideration and definitely need to get a hold of the guys at Riworx.

Thanks for the start guys!

Tony at kennedy and eglinton did my first s14…it ran well, but WOULD NOT recommend him for numerous reasons.

ps, he primarily had done more SR swaps, though he has done 2j’s and 1j’s

Riworx +1

In a pickup, oh it’s not too bad. Riyad I think he ticks all the boxes of
1: intimately familiar with nissan
2: intimately familiar with toyota
3:clean
4: never backs away from a challenge, even after I threw him a curve ball 2 weeks ago.

If you don’t have your engine he ha Srs, Rbs and a Ij half cut at the moment, Visit him and you’ll see a almost done celica swap next to a nissan you prob never hear about getting worked on.

If people are giving plus 1’s then I’ll give a minus.

Do not go to mt motorsport.

checkout Whitehead Performance… Datsun shop in the city, prob the best bet… Although its pretty simple anyways… theres only 7 wires connecting ecu to car

I would recommend whitehead performance too, had a clutch job done there

The hardest part will be the fab work like engine mounts/exhaust (manifolds too?), relocating misc things to work… you want good welding done, the swap is pretty straight forward, most swaps just need grounds and power added to the engine harness and then adapting to the dash for fireworks…

I wouldn’t recommend Whitehead though, they used to be the Z-car specialists, but they talk a lot and overcharge a lot…

Opinions on Simone?

I’ve talked with Vic multiple times and I personally love his attitude about cars.

^^ the little time i spent with him, he seemed pretty clueless… didnt know what an safc was, or what i meant by “tuning” my car…
