trying to connect my C700 to a TV....HELP

Im trying to connect my Compaq c700 to a TV so I can watch a movie thats on my laptop but watch it on the TV. Im using an S-video -> RCA conversion cord but my laptop wont pick up the TV as another monitor. Im running Vista and my video card is a “Mobile intel® 965 chipset family”. Ive used this cord before to connect my HP DV4000 to my TV and it work every time without a hitch. I was using XP on the HP and am familiar with it but Im running Vista on my Compaq and Im not as familiar with the graphic options as I would like to be.

Can someone please help me figure this out?

edit: I forgot s-video is analog. hmm… I would think it must be something the laptop is doing wrong since S-video does not talk to the TV about resolution or anything that smart.
