Turbo cam gains 142whp. indy. shop tested in GM hightech mag.

Joelster scanned this and just showed it to me, thanks.
I didn’t even know about this, Its out right now in the new issue of GM HighTech magazine. A independent shop called and bought a cam and install parts from NewEra, a non DOD/AFM turbo grind for a G8. (FYI same cam grind intense_racing bought from NewEra and runs in there turbo G8 that made 870whp, APS TTkit) They (carter racing) did the install, tuning, And GM HighTech did a article on it.

That kicks ass. A good cam really really helps out a turbo build.

thats the truth, i wonder if the cam was designed for FI or na, it seems stock turbo motors love turbo style cams, and stock na motors respond best with na cams and boost

You are missing a page. I sent you 6 pages.

interesting. i’m getting a headache trying to read that, but any specs on the cam? those DOD cams must hurt a lot, because everything i’ve gained is that you can take “turbo cam theory” and throw it out the window. cams with overlap meant for NA/Nitrous apps that people shun for turbo setups usually make just as much and more power. Only differences are that it shifts the powerband in different ways.

either way, nice results!

I know a cam in my stock truck was good for 69RW.Want to do it sooo bad but afraid to hurt that 100K warranty
D

Do you really think anyone at GM would notice? Stock exhaust?

buddy is service managaer and said not to worry about it,but how long can you drive a 550 hp truck before it has a hiccup?Think it would really make it to 100k without any problems?

sweetness

Yea - was debating starting a thread - left a post on this in the G8 thread. Congrats to everyone @ New Era!

Cool,
ya I don’t go on the G8, camaro5 sites. Didn’t have time today to buy a copy and get better scans. I don’t subscribe to GMTH anymore, sense its always stuff I already did or knew about 6 months ago anyway. I’ll get that done right now. Me and stry were at the shop late, and he realized his inspection is up in a few months. So had mike flash in his 1,033whp MAF tune (pump gas) Ya, it cool seeing NewEra talked about. There is also alot of other stuff I was going to post but haven’t. Now its kinda old, like 2 years ago there was a full shop article in FastestStreetCar magizine. Some supply companies knew about some really fast street cars there were getting build. And they called one day and set it up looking for LSX stuff, the other was W2W. They used like 3-4 pics I took of brandons setup at the time. They sent like 50 copies of the issue, and a bunch of NMCA stuff, It was before the 1st LSX shootout.

humm. I can’t get the 5th pic to save. NOT has a php file???

The others should be flipped now. Its funny reading this, it was over a year ago now mike had comp cams grind out the 1st cam. No one had even seen a DOD/AFM cam blank at the time. And Comp used a blank to grind the cam profile in, for them to use. And didn’t know anything the new style cams and the special oil groves. But comp cams needed mikes stock cam to use for R&D for them, so with like 200miles on the car they took the cam for a few days because they couldn’t get one. It was mikes wifes car and she loved driving it, stopped in to take the car to go shopping or something. He didn’t want to tell her he was testing cams and everything. Mike took the whole top off, down to the shortblock just to see 1st hand everything about the DOD. We kept the hood closed… good times

 to kick ass results. nothing beats seeing actual gains.

better scans are up

You posted the second to last page twice.

thanks man, should be fixed now

I scanned that bish on the good scanner at work
