Let me start by saying I can not believe how much power this cam makes ! Also , driveability is pretty much like stock , you can use your stock convertor with this cam , Long tube Headers (preferably ARH) are reccomended . I used longer pushrods and Yella Terra Rockers with this cam due to a noisy valvetrain afeter we first put it in , which helped quiet down the valvetrain , but it is still more pronounced than just getting rid of the DOD lifters . The DOD is more noticeable when it comes on and off now , but it has been tested and does still work , on a side note , I am only getting about 1.5 mpg highway and 2 mpg city better fuel mileage than when I scrapped DOD , so my opinion is to scrap DOD when changing a cam that makes descent power , but that is just my opinion , I can have this core ground for NON DOD as well . This is also the smallest cam I’ve tested so far, here is the dyno graph :
Best time so far from NYI with New Era DOD cam, bolt ons and stock mufflers still, a Precision Vigilante 3200 rpm torque convertor , 275/50/17 drag radial, and FULL WEIGHT G8
Some room to improve in places, and with better weather coming looking for 11’s. Mike it driving the G8 to the LSX shoot in a few weeks, with everyone else going. To race it in the 12.0 index class
wow. I love the G8. Glad to see everything is working out.
Nice results, man I want that stryker metallic blue G8 GT they have at Patrick Pontiac
Bring to OSCA & run the 11.90 index.
You should get one just so you can get a cool plate Like “L76 G8”
