the thing is, the car behaved like this from the get go… before any street testing.
b/c emanage suxorz…
maybe it really doesnt like E-Manage at all…I am assuming you have all the updated firmware for it
so no talking shit to u when angry. however when everyone else is pissed its ok? anyways goodluck with getting it running
yep, that’s the short of it
lol.
how the ic piping around the mafs setup?
i have no experience with that setup, but i have heard of guys having problems with idle/driveability with nearby bends.
Is the ECU the same as the one’s in the Celica? I don’t think so, I believe it was remapped by Lotus for their version of it. Anyhow, if it is the same, last I knew you would be better off going with a full standalone because of the ECU’s uncanny ability to learn that something is fucking with it. Piggybacks weren’t the way to go with the Toyota ECU’s in the Celica, you were better off standalone. If the ECU is somewhat the same, or the exact same, then you would be better off shooting it with my Desert Eagle 0.50.
^ what he said, while researching for jeremy_gt’s turbo idea. the e-manage is known to get screwed up on the celica/lotus computers and “lose its memory” on frequent occasion. does the e-manage have the ability to alter the MAF transfer function? if not thats your problem, the MAF isnt calibrated correctly. if you tell me where you are i can swing by maybe and take a look at the software or whatnot.

theres a way around this
buy a wideband
set one of the analog outputs for a narrowband style graph
move the graph to the left so that the 14.7 mark falls @12:1
use the analog output wire as the signal feed from the nb02
boom, stock ecu always trys to tune for 12:1 w/o even realizing it
you realized that will make the car idle like shit.
edit: newman when I was at HC yesterday, something I didn’t think of…get on the gas a touch, and hold it at like 1500 rpms or so, and see what happens then (with no load) See if it still jumps and surges.
is there a MAP sensor as well??
yes, the emanage uses the map sensor for boost by locking/clamping the maf.
Is there a possibility that the MAP sensor is bad, Jay just had some issues with a weird idle and backfiring with his FD and it turned out that the PowerFC was tuned for the wrong MAP sensor. Just my $0.02
nope didnt realize that, apparently in the cases ive been involved with, that shitty idle was being sneaky and disguising itself as a smooth idle
lol, smartass. Anyway, seroiusly though, that motor should be holding an idle w/an a/f of roughly 14-15. The only car I’ve ever tuned to idle rich as hell was my bros FD and that’s because rotaries are evil in general and have many quirks to them. I still think I was somewhere in the 13’s on idle with that even.
or with any toyota ecu’s really… i know piggybacks don’t work for shit on MR2’s either
E-manage Ultimate = Crap
he removed it…problem solved…same as two other people.
