I wasn’t sure where to post this so i picked here…
i have been doing research for about 2 1/2 years now on my
tiburon and i have asked many questions but kept getting
led in the wrong direction. this is my set-up:
2001 Hyundai Tiburon 2.0 Beta
T3/T4 Turbo XS …63 (hot) .50 (cold)
8.5 MM Magstar Spark Plug Wires
Spearo Intercooler (not too sure on the dimensions)
2.5 Piping (down pipe, hard pipes, exhaust)
Apexi SAFC-NEO Air/Fuel Controller
Bosch Spark Plugs (gap .34)
Turbonectics Raptor BOV
Turbonectics Deltagate ll 35 MM Waste Gate
440 CC Precision Injectors
Cast Iron Manifold
Meagan Racing Front Upper Sway Bar
Oil Sandwich Plate
255 Walbro Fuel Pump
APC Air Filter
OBX Upper/Lower Radiator Hose
Tri-pod Gauge Cluster (Boost, Oil Pressure, Oil Temp)
Short Shifter
OBX Water Pump Under drive Pulley (to be installed)
OBX Alternator Under drive Pulley (to be installed)
Autoteq Fuel Pressure Regulator (to be installed)
Greddy Turbo Timer Profec Spec B II (to be installed)
ARP Head Studs (to be installed)
Sorry for the long list, but i didnt want to miss anything.
this is my problem… Okay now I have tried to get the Tib
tuned twice already, both times ending with the same result.
Basically this is what happens… when my car is about to
get into boost my car leans out(or is very rich, i cant remember).
All the pieces of my car are installed correctly. So if anyone
knows something that I don’t know please tell me know so I can
correct this discrepancy. Now the only thing I have that I
haven’t tried was a larger MAF sensor that i bought from
Sharkracing.com. Hopefully my car is freaking out because
the ECU can not compensate for all the air it needs to take in,
which hopefully the MAF sensor should take care of. The injectors
are big enough, so I know fuel is not the problem. sorry again for
the novel… thanks to all in advance.
Injectors are probably maxxed out if i were to take a stab at it.
why would you say that? there were only pushing lik3 85% duty cycle
Your form of tuning blows. You need to find a better setup like a powerfc/whatever they make for your car thats not just a hack. I believe with the neo you can only tune WOT and idle. On a turbo car from the factory you might squeeze by but not on an aftermarket turbod car.
i was thinking Haltech… but then i need some one that knows whats going on to so all the software and tuning.
um how much boost are you tryin to run on this pig?
Apexi Power FC for tuning :thumbup
Sounds like a nice project. Any pics?
I’m gonna say get it professionally tuned if you haven’t yet
shit right now what ever i can get… but my waste gate is a 9 pounder
i was just looking at the FC and that sounds freaking amazing… but they don’t list my car as an choice… :ahh
maf voltage is probably maxed. put the stock sensor in a larger maf housing, ORRRR ger a bigger maf… a mustang cobra maf seems to work well for most applications. you just need to scale it properly and you will be all set.
that there is a bad thing on any vehicle ,when ya go above 78 % d/c the injectors start overheating and spray pattern can go bad very quickly, and cease altogether:thumbupnow after all that ya need to see what the car is doin leanin out or dumpin fuel ,
It’s going rich or lean not sure? OK…
No one is able to help you with that sort of information. Please provide relevant information: timing, AFR, boost, etc… Maybe a datalog?
Get a wide band and some one who knows how to tune
I was running 170% duty cycle on my V6 with the LS1 42.5lbers on 15psi LOLLL
OP…
+1, I would NEVER run a boosted car without a wide band
While it’s definately a good idea, boosted cars have been around long before WB02 were widely used. I got several friends in 600+WHP cars running deep in the 10s without a WB02 including a buddy that went 150+
did they tune them at one point in time by a wideband or did they do the old check the plugs routine
Are you throwin any codes? Also do you have a datalogger?
It almost sounds like your tib is goin into limp mode.
