turbo? or leaf blower?

Out of a v8 engine which of the 2 would make the most power a blower or a turbo set up? Not sure what kind of power I’m lookin at yet but figured I’d toss this ? Out there to see what other people would do its a 4.5L from a porsche 928

Twin screw or turbo. No other blower/supercharger is worthy in my opinion.

turbos make cool noises!

realistically i think a turbo would have the higher limit. but you could make the limit the sky…what kinda power do u want to make?

Depends on what type of power band you want. Eaton & Screw type positive displacement superchargers work great for low end. Prochargers & other cent. superchargers work great for decent mid and topend. Turbos depending on how you size it in relation to the engine can have decent mid and good topend

When I think Porsche,I think turbo.

“Supercharged Porsche”

That doesn’t sound good.

Twin Turbo.

Supershark kit. Without a doubt. Do some research on rennlist on it. Definitely go supercharged. There are guys running theirs at over 600hp and over 200mph. You arent going for a “most power” setup anyway, take a look at rebuild costs doing it the “right” way for an 32v motor (or hell, even the 16v). Just supercharge it at 8psi and call it a day. 400+whp reliable.

:fyi: i have come to the conclusion that you know way too much about european cars.

not that its a bad thing though

A supercharger would be easier to mount up.

A turbo is usually more work to fit up.

A supercharger is fun. Probalby a little less expensive.

A turbo is fun(er) and has a smoother power transition.

In any case it depends what you want to spend.

I like the violence and snap of a supercharger…so that gets my vote

Turbos make the most power and are the most efficient over any other mechanical power adder. Proven fact. It just depends on how you want your power to come on.

Whatever you can afford to do correctly.

im not even sure what the stock power out put is on this but it really pulls hard if i went with a turbo set up because of the size of the engine would i be better off going twin turbo? with 2 smaller turbos or one huge turbo?

twins would probably be best

turbo, most potential
super, linear power band

If I were looking for information on modding old Porsche’s, I’d make it a point to pay special attention to what MPD47 says. From what I can gather he know’s a thing or two about them.

Forgot, the Murf kit is also a good option. If you decide to go turbo, good luck, I’ll put more money on it being for sale before completed than ever seeing the road. I can think of a HANDFUL of Turbo 928’s. Talk about a PITA. Oh dont forget, if you go turbo, you’ll need a custom intake if it’s 16v, custom exhaust (and manifolds), decide if you want to go intercooled (if so, where do you plan on mounting it? No room for a decently sized one for a twin setup in front of the radiator), not to mention converting off of CIS, going standalone, etc, etc, etc. Like I said, good luck

yup alot of work for a turbo. There was a guy who had the murf928 kit and a upgraded(H or X pipe not sure on which one) on his 32v. He put down something like 500whp. http://www.928motorsports.com/superchargers.html
