Turbo & Supercharger

Funny

& I dont care if you have already seen it or its a repost.

edit.

wouldn’t that make your car like an all around menace? always on fast at the start so you have the dig covered then your boosting into top gear when the spool kicks in

im sure there is like a totally HUIGE! disadvantage to this but the theory sounds nice i gues

Haha yea, in theory its a good idea but I dont see it working.

this has been tried and tested many times. it works. it’s just complicated and expensive.

No NAWSSS to prevent turbo and supercharger lag??? WTF

i don’t know anything about this pic, other than it’s fucking insane:

^^ no fmic :gotme: ha its hot

Twin Charging is what I have always heard it called. No real disadvantage other than price.

Add nitrous to that equation too just for fun.

then in theory there would be no lag correct?
As the supercharger runs it’s course gives the turbine plenty of time for spool so that way its already to go and there is no lag right when 1 is done the other kicks in so your always covered?

i how the fuck do those heads stay on? im guessing they weld them

twin charging FTW

15mm headstuds???lol

iirc volkswagen was developing a motor for this…

1.4L inline 4 cyl making 180 hp

supercharger worked at low speeds, turbo took over for top end

lots of boost, no lag

That works really well but is fairly complex. Just running a supercharger into a turbo or vice versa is terribly inefficient.

theyve got it in europe, so its working

That twincharged e36 has been around for a long time. I remember reading about the project on dtmpower back in like 2001 or something.

But yeah the Group B Lancia Delta S4 was a pretty cool early example of twincharging…

A guy did this with his Grand Prix GTP as well. He ran 10s. Came to the conclusion that he could make the same power without the extra heat/restriction…and ditched the supercharger.
