i have a TurboXS dual stage HP manual boost controller. and i’m trying to figure out the widest boost difference between the 2 stages.
each stage controller has about 10-11 turns lock to lock. And according to the instructions, each turn = 1psi. So technically if the first stage is set at its lowest, and the second stage is set at its max. I should have a difference of about 10-11psi. but i can only get 6psi difference.
does anyone have this type of controller, and can shed some light.
1 turn doesent mean 1 psi. Every boost controller I mess with Its different based on the alot of things. the vacuum line size, wastegate placement, turbo size. wastegate springs. and so on.
So this is like guess and check kind of thing.
actually, i’m going to do the opposite. since i can only get a 6psi delta. then i’m gonna set the 2nd stage for max boost, and set the first stage as low as i can
i was running an 8psi spring in the WG and it was solid control up to about 17psi, then it would rattle sporadically around 18-20.
so i switched up to a 15psi spring, and now i cant get the controller solid on anything. in fact, both stages stop at the same boost pressure(22), which is really peculiar.
this is what i have BTW

i told the guy at TurboXS my problem, and he kinda gave me the “catalog part description” for an answer. So i guess this is up to me to figure out.
with a 9psi spring, i could do 11psi, and 17psi. With a 15psi spring, i couldnt get anything lower then 22psi. i’m gonna try a 10psi spring, and see if i can get stable boost again.
i had the same issues on an electronic 2 stage boost controller from Greddy. I did everything I could to figure it out but the only fix was a good ol single stage MBC.
