TwinTurbo Corvette Crash @ Texas Mile

Done.

Some people just want to be a hero, and they have enough money to make their dreams happen.

That’s what happened to this guy: http://www.carzi.com/2010/06/27/vralexander-dead-spectre-341-challenge-accident/

I was thinking along the same lines. Someone unexperienced wants to get the record, and they end up dead. These last few crashes didn’t end in fatality, because they were at least half-prepared. Some people aren’t as smart.

So you’re saying a guy who routinely drives super cars recklessly is inexperienced? I really don’t see how any of the accidents at the Texas Mile were due to being half-prepared. It was the race teams choice to run Micky T’s, don’t you think they knew the trade offs? Yes sometimes the tires blow out but they also give the best traction. Sometimes nitrous blows motors, sometimes it makes killer race cars. You’re not building a tank you’re building a rocket ship. Did NASA half-prepare shuttle launches? These guys didn’t die because they were half-prepared, they lived because they WERE prepared. Both cars had cages and were well built. Both drivers had numerous mile runs and countless street/tract events under their belt. It wasn’t like they forced a 16 year old boy to drive the car for them.

This is what happens when you push limits period.

It is sad that they lost the car, but this should be a positive for the event, no one died. Everyone ended up being ok and at the end of the day that is what really matters. This wasn’t a careless street race ended by slamming into a minivan with a family inside.

Why would they not consider running a tire with a inner liner? Something similar to what Nascar runs. Those guys cut a front tire doing nearly 200mph, and can drive the thing to pit lane usually without beating up the fender too much. Imagine if those tires were blowing out…

I don’t think we’re exactly on the same page here, so I’m going to abort on this
