Uh-oh! You’re being rate-limited!

While we love your enthusiasm, in an effort to control abuse, you’re only allowed a certain number of actions.

Please try again in 60 minutes.

This is the very first time I’ve ever visited twitter. Most likely it will also be my last.

I love twitter. The concept is pretty dumb but it’s a great site.

thread fail

people who hate twitter are people who don’t understand it.

wtf is a twitter

Twitter…facebook, for retards.

I love twitter great for security info, computer updates, podcasts…

Not to mention a lot of companies run contests on there. A lot of free stuff for doing nothing.

if you go by the income and/or education of users:

twitter > facebook > myspace

Isnt it just status updates? (Idk why I am so hesitant to go there, lol) It seems worthless to post updates of what you are doing every 5 minutes. Hell I feel dumb posting something on FB more than once every few days.

that’s what I thought before I used it… it’s way more powerful that that, but still so simple.

I guess the best way to describe it when used correctly is as a constant stream of insider information. You just pick your areas of interest. For me it’s local businesses, friends, DJs mostly. I also never use AIM anymore as my big problem with it was that I don’t want people talking to me because they are bored and see I’m online. with twitter people just post (or direct msg) when they have content to share which is the part of AIM that I liked. So in a perfect world, I can eliminate, AIM, 1/3 of my emails, facebook, and text msgs. That’s a lot of optimization and of great value to me.

take a look at this page for a great example:

http://twitter.com/TapandMallet

it’s a local bar to me that as you’ll see sends out the vibe on when they get a good keg, or have a nice special etc…

I like to enter all the silly contests and giveaways. I even found some work through Twitter, designing baby and kids clothing with an eco-friendly company based out of San Fransisco.

It’s more…I dunno…“worldly” than other social sites. It’s easier to randomly find and talk with people from all over the world instead of strictly losers from high school that you were never friends with in the first place.

I would say most people who hate on twitter don’t do anything constructive online…

Twitter is good if you follow the right people. I hate facebook becuase I dont want people to know everything I do and don’t give a shit if someone is having a bad day or becuase their dad touched them in the shower.

If you follow people on facebook with statuses of “In bed.” or “Having a bad day” then expect the same if you follow them on twitter.

If you follow like news and decent people on twitter, you can stay up to date with a lot and know right when shit happens.

What’s not to understand about listening to every last stupid thought that someone feels like sharing with the world? Is there some deep dark secret twitter holds? Is it actually run by the Knights Templar? Are twitter users actually controlling the world and this is just a front? Please, do tell me because I must know!

:picard:

What do you do for a living?

Unless Russia just let loose their intercontinental ballistic missiles, there’s nothing you need to hear that can’t wait until it reaches a news article. Your way of thinking is like when the first comment on an article is ‘First!’
