Have you ever shut down your Facebook profile?

and if so… why?

every now and again you get this fluctuation in your friends list from people turning their profiles on/off. Every instance i know of is due to drama or bracing for drama or an effort to reduce expected drama.

explain yourselves.

I haven’t usually people do over women drama

Never had a Facebook account. Never will. No interest.

Yep, my ex is STILL stalking me. She drives over an hour to drop stuff next to my car at work and leave shit in my mail box. I have an open case with the troopers right now for stalking and harassment. She has major issues.

Someone I know opened a gmail account in my name, started a facebook profile, and then emailed me the passwords… I freaked. It found a hundred people I didn’t want to know I was even still alive, let alone where in the country I was.

I’ve had it since early 2005 and haven’t ever shut it down. I’ve considered it recently though because of this stupid ass timeline bullshit they are rolling out. The UI is god awful and annoys the shit out of me.

I did because it’s a useless peice of shit. It’s nothing but people bitching and complaining. I don’t need it to keep in contact with distant friends or relatives, I have a phone and email for that. It will die just like myspace.

Weird its the exact opposite for me…

I have family spread across the US and over seas it quickly allows me to share family news and pictures with them.

Also lets me stay in contact with friends across the country.

As much as people hate Facebook its nothing like MySpace and for good or bad its not going anywhere…Look how hard Google+ flopped everyone is way to embed in Facebook at this point.

^^I was going to mention google+ and how it didn’t even stand a chance. I have no problem with facebook. Facebook doesn’t cause problems; stupid people with facebook cause problems.

I like google + way better.

I quit facebook about 2 years ago.
I found it fucking useless.

I am considering temporarily disabling as a way of clearing out all past wall posts. I’m not sure disabling will wipe out the wall though.

I’ve had it since 05 and never shut it down. Although the new timeline bs does suck to navigate IMO.

x2, people have lost touch with reality, they cannot communicate in person, they say it’s to “keep in touch” with past friends, current friends, whatever, if someone is really that important to you pick up your fucking phone you pussy, that’s probably why I have 2 real friends, not 600. I also have no interest in people knowing anything about me, if it’s personal I’ll share.

But there is a plus side to facebook, it’s a great tool if you want to make yourself sick spying on your ex gf to find out who or how many guys she’s banging since you’ve broken up with her, I watch my brother and friends sob over the keyboard all the time.

Edit: It’s also a great tool if you’re a giant slut posting a picture of yourself licking a dildo and your grandpa can post about how proud is of you

If facebook is a crutch for communication, your family & friends must suck or you’re in the Military.

Sounds like your friends are just like you on nyspeed.

Twitter > Facebook

:io:

Ive shut it down due to just wanting to fall off the grid for a while. At one point i disabled my account so you cant post on my wall only comment on posts, it didnt show my information like what city and shit i lived in. you couldnt see my pics only friends could. since then i stopped giving a fuck and left shit open seems to be ok but i clean my fb contacts up once a month or so due to the stupid random adds and most of the ppl i delete some how find away back on my contact list with having to say yes to the request. shits fucked. debating on closing it down again due to the million emails i get from it, i recently did a sweep on my hotmail account and it was over 5000 emails just from fb alone in the last 6 months, fuck that…

I have one, I use it. It’s great for networking and keeping in touch with people. Like many things it has its positives and negatives such as its privacy issues. I’m smart enough to know that if there is something I don’t want the world to know I don’t put it on there. I generally disable many of the public options. Things seem to change so often that you have to continuously check your security and sharing settings. And obviously if I didn’t want to worry about any of that I could just delete it. I may one day, but it will depend on how much I need the free services they provide.

I had my account down to 30 friends… then Newman “suggested” me or something and I had over 100 requests waiting, lol.
