UFC announced that Lesnar will make his first title defense since unifying the belt after defeating Frank Mir much earlier than anticipated. Lesnar, who underwent minor surgery after defeating Mir, was moved up to UFC 106 in November. With Shane Carwin being scheduled to fight Cain Valesquez at UFC 104 this leaves Valesquez without an opponent, but Joe Silva is working diligently to find a replacement. Carwin, who is 3-0 in the UFC, was slated to fight Valesquez for the right to fight Lesnar. Instead Carwin has been bumped to the number 1 contender spot and will bid for his chance to be the UFC’s best in the Heavyweight division. Shane Carwin, who like Lesnar, is an NCAA wrestling champion is the only man in the UFC to wear LARGER gloves than Lesnars 5XL. Carwin weighs in with fists measuring 6XL in the glove department.
Thoughts?
This is going to be the first guy who I think can physically stand with Lesnar and be AS strong as Brock. I’m VERY interested to see this fight and can’t wait!!!
Likewise, I think this should be a pretty good fight. I think they’ll be able to exchange with eachother and make it exciting. I don’t think Brock will be able to dominate his opponents like he has in the past. I truthfully think the man who can get it done and beat Lesnar is Fedor. That guy is tough as hell.
